Browse Forums Building A New House Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 1061Aug 15, 2011 9:33 pm Sorry I can't help. We've just got our first price on site costs. I think the next step is pay $400 for a surveyor and put down a $3k deposit. How often do MJH put up their prices? Anyone know when the next one is due? Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 1062Aug 15, 2011 10:41 pm Can’t help you either soccermum... but I’m pretty sure that the 3k deposit will cover all reports and surveys on your land, you shouldn’t have to pay an additional 400... Also, we have just been advised that we have CDC APPROVAL YEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOP!!! Materials are currently been ordered and should hopefully commence construction within 20 days... ive always wanted to insert a few of these smilies, once we had approval hehehe Built the Havana 3 by McDonald Jones Homes Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 1063Aug 16, 2011 1:42 pm kopite1892 Can’t help you either soccermum... but I’m pretty sure that the 3k deposit will cover all reports and surveys on your land, you shouldn’t have to pay an additional 400... It's a great feeling to drive past and see your house coming out of the ground. Hope things go smoothly with the weather in the initial period, mud is good for complexions but lousy for building. You need to check everything kornjen! make sure everything is where you would like for it to be i.e. ac pad, or water tank pad etc... check measurements of walls, rooms, wardrobes etc... make sure that they have included any changes made from the CT.... check windows sizes etc... just check every little bit of detail on the drawing... if you're not sure on something, flag it and bring it up with your CLO... good luck. Supervisor tells me that the Gyprock is up, cornice done, skirting architrave and doors start going on from Saturday (carpenters are so busy they work Sat & Sun). Probably only about 2 months short of moving in (all things being equal) Can't wait, sick of the half falling down rental we're in. Kids just want to get stuck into the vege garden, chooks and of course the dirt bikes. I'll pm you some photos when were done. Castelvania, we are at the same stage as you, do post photos please..did you go with face brick. Kornjen, great colour selections. We wen with the grey floor tile for wet areas, it' darker grey ceramic and it was standard. We will be doing laminate ourselves throughout. I like your brick too. We couldn't find grey enough brick that was coloured through, so went with closest available. Austral then released some grey bricks, but I think theses would have been too expensive anyway. Em.Russ, hope you have a quick council approval. In terms of waiting, we found the hardest part to be between council approval and site start. I'm not going to update much, expect to say that bricks are finished and fascia was being put up early this week.
