Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 10522Sep 01, 2015 9:23 am firsttimer05 Brahma Bull firsttimer05 A bit off topic and maybe a silly question. At what stage during construction did/are people taking out building insurance? I organised it a week before handover, so I was covered from the day of handover. The bank won't issue final payment usually until they can see you've taken out the policy. Thanks. So does the builders insurance cover the house until that time? Sure does. $395 Fixed Priced Landscape Plans for DA M: 0435 127 244 | W: bluegumdesign.com.au | E: info@bluegumdesign.com.au Residential | Commercial | Industrial Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 10523Sep 01, 2015 9:30 am 1st time builders We are officially one month exactly until handover... It's two storey so won't be too bad and hopefully will reflect a lot natural light into our home Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The neigbours next door to me have a white colourbond and this is the view out my bedroom window. You can't tell in the pic because it's over cast but when its sunny you need a pair of sunglasses on hahaha definitely reflects light!! Thanks for the picture.. that certainly is white isn't it. We should be ok though. We are two-storey and they are also two-storey and the only window I can think that might be in direct sight of the roof will be one of those wide but short windows (letterbox shape) that is up around 1.8m from the floor. There's no other windows on that side of the house that will be affected by the white roof... and if we do get a bit of natural light reflecting in, my wife will certainly be happy about it. ------ Update on our place: There's been a 4 day delay on account of the waterproofing advising, then re-confirming and then again confirming that the waterproofing second stage was to be completed on Thursday last week. That's three separate confirmations they gave to my SS. So of course my SS advised me to book in the waterproofing inspection, but upon arrival my inspector found that there was NOTHING TO INSPECT! They'd apparently applied a single strip of silicon on something to with where the cladding goes but NOTHING ELSE AT ALL! This has now cost us $150 for the call-out fee for the inspector, as they will need to go back again. The SS was also understandably not impressed with the waterproofing because a lot of the other things that were due to start this, such as wet area tiling (which you will remember we had to scramble to find a replacement tile selection after one was found to have been discontinued) that was due to start TODAY! WTF light487? I would be majorly p'd about this! I would even make them pay for the 2nd visit! Building the Clarendon Merriden 30 (44 after Mods) @ Harrington Grove! You are better to get it done after handover. You get credited back the tiles price (which is not much) and they leave it bare.. Wondering whether to do glass or tiles?!Maybe i should ask for tile credit? How much did they credit you back? Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 10529Sep 01, 2015 10:44 am We got back $130... Tiny amount for what it is.. But we didnt do it for the credit.. We did it cause it was going to cost too much.. We would have needed 9 metres of splashback so it would have cost way too much through Clarendon. Besides i have a contact in a glass company who has quoted me $300 for the supply Building the Clarendon Merriden 30 (44 after Mods) @ Harrington Grove! Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 10533Sep 01, 2015 12:17 pm After some advice regarding Warm and Cool White LED downlights and where to put them? I know the saying usually goes warm whites in relaxing areas (living and bedrooms) and cool whites in working areas (kitchen and study) does anyone have anything to add to this? has anyone used warm downlights throughout the whole house? Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 10537Sep 01, 2015 3:48 pm bmitchel we have also requested an induction cooktop (westinghouse 5 spot) and have been quoted $1620. Are you aware of the special installation instructions for a 5mm airflow gap in the front of the cabinet? It is illustrated in the user guide available from westinghouse website and apparently people have had warranties denied when this gap is not present. I provided the user manual to clarendon and they informed me they will install according to it so we will see... The one they listed down for us on the PCV has been discontinued, but I can tell you right now, if they want to charge me $1600 they'd want to make sure it is the latest model. Let me know how you go. We don't start building for probably another 3-4 weeks. I'm still yet to hear back feedback on why it costs so much given you could almost buy one new for that price.
