Very excited to see something after all this rain and the start of a house. Guys seem to be working super quick, I felt like hugging them when I saw them working today! We have a few other MJH houses being built in our street and the street facing us. Slab looks HUGE and we have very little backyard, but nothing we can do now. Not sure how to upload photos without Tapatalk? can I ? if not my blog has photos. We are starting to think maybe we do need to get some more extras (even though once contract was done we agreed no way are we changing anything!) but now wishing we tiled bathrooms to ceiling, free-standing bath..... might get it quoted up and see.. Your house is moving along extremely fast at the moment. We are just in front of you David. Our plans went to Council last week. Could take 6 - 8 weeks though to be approved. CathyLeigh
Why are you going to council & not cdc?
Hi Safaa When we signed off on our plans with our CLO she advised us that we would be going through CDC which would take about 2 weeks and then when signing our Building Contract we were told it would have to go through Council. It is something to do with how far the house is set back from the road. We never changed our set back from the road at any time so I wish they didn't tell us we were going through CDC if they didn't have their facts right. We are not in a rush to have the house built I just want to beat the deadline of the 150 days of signing the quotation so we don't get charged any extra money. Might become costly. When we signed our Building Contract we were told it would cost $1,000.00 in admin fees for each alteration made plus the cost of the alteration. If you make a few alterations that could be a couple of thousand dollars in just admin fees and then the price of the alterations on top. Maybe you could get a price to get extra tiling done after handover??? Eaves, Down pipes, Alfresco, Garage Door, then they can continue Painting and start the more intricate part of fittings for electrical and Plumbing, Flooring and all other little finishes Been told they cant continue the build till the brickwork is done, so in a holding pattern till they start. Just annoyed they said Start this Week, I just didn't take into account starting this week could mean Friday. And how far are you set back?
We had the same happen at our appointment for signing building contract, all paper work said CDC. Plus it was the same reason, in the end the council didn't approve the set back. They had to adjust building contract and re-submit with set back changed and one outside wall too long, so had to change home theatre to add 600mm. That cost around $2000. We still made the 150 day by one day, but then Mcdonald jones went over the 150 days. Ummmm I like how they can go over. We didn't ask for a closer set back in the first place. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10457May 06, 2015 10:20 am Great to see some slabs going down after all this rain. Its such a nice change to see the sunshine... Stage 1 of our concrete was done yesterday - yay for sun! But its still too wet for any more work so next week they will be back. We are getting used to the mud now and the kids have it down pat entering and exiting the house. Concreter will be back tomorrow to finalise the back area and then we wait until next week for the driveway. Will upload some pics later... Very happy with how easy the Gerflor is to maintain, so much easier than tiles. We ordered a lounge on the weekend - 10 week wait... but I am glad we waited until we were in before deciding what we needed. For those who may not have done the package with the TV brackets etc, we have put one up so far and to be honest its quite easy as long as you use the right screws etc. Loving our bush outlook and the whole family has settled really well. All boxes are unpacked and now we are just fine tuning where things go. And like I said before the smallest bronte for us feels huge so all good. Nat and Dan - yay for the roof this week, from there its all systems go as the rain can't hold them up! I'm just looking at ours and it looks a bit small? We built the Milano 2 16m. I think the extra width helps the hallway a lot. Ours doesn't feel cramped and allowed us to have a 1200*2340 door. Hallway is 1575 wide on plans. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10460May 06, 2015 2:20 pm Hi AKG, We had a base tender of $592 for 31 squares from MC Donald Jones.
