Just got my stairs quote. For maple and glass balusters, they are quoting just under 8k. This seems extremely high to me. We are only building The Washington. Is this normal? Lol... someone here said they only paid about $3900 for theirs. What does the standard stairs look like?! I didn't even ask about the standard /quote] We’re paying $4780 for our stairs for glass and a mitred maple balustrade (no stain, no sawtooth capping). Ours only involves 3 panes of glass. Does anyone know what the standard staircase looks like? What's important is that our handrail is mitred lol. Both of my quotes are mitred maple balustrade.. Our last house had a timber staircase that was about 10 years old and the treads were worn and awful so we decided carpet was cheaper to replace to keep looking nice over the years. They hadn’t been looked after I don’t think. The finish was worn off. We respect the rights of our Clients to express their views and opinions about their experience with Wisdom, and hence, do not actively engage in these threads. However, we do regularly monitor the contents of this forum. Some posts we disagree with; some posts are made by individuals who are not Wisdom clients and are motivated by another agenda; however, the majority of feedback we genuinely take on board to continuously improve our processes and systems. Over recent months, we have made numerous improvements to our front end processes to expedite our pre-site (admin) timeframes and have now launched Canvas Quarter to offer a better selections process. Unfortunately, many of you won't benefit from these changes as you are past this stage, but these improvements have been made possible for future clients based on the feedback that you have provided. Despite some of the historic challenges that we have had with our admin timeframes (which we are constantly improving), Wisdom has always enjoyed an outstanding reputation for the quality of our Homes, our designs and our inclusions. This has not changed. Our current Head of Construction is a founding member of the company and has more than 25 years’ experience in the industry. He will soon be moving into our Head of Customer Service & Operations role to continue to drive improvements in our pre-site processes. As of today, we have appointed a new Head of Construction (HoC) who has more than 30 years’ industry experience. Reporting into our HoC are 5 very experienced Area Construction Managers (ACMs) responsible for more than 35 Site Supervisors managing almost 300 Trades and Suppliers (all of whom are subject to strict selection criteria). Furthermore, our Company’s original founders, Dom & Fay Vitalone, remain very active in Wisdom today. We are not perfect but we stand by our commitments and promises. We will always be accountable to ensure that Wisdom Homes meets the standards that we expect of ourselves. Where we see evidence on this Forum that our standards of quality, safety and/or customer service are not being met, we will reach out to individuals directly to discuss (Jordann, our ACM Craig will contact you about your PCI concerns, if he hasn’t already done so). Again, we won't actively engage on this forum so please don't use this as a channel to communicate directly with us. But, as part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we are always reviewing the feedback provided from genuine Wisdom customers. I still don’t even have kitchen plans even though my appointment was done 5 months ago! They did charge me a $350 change fee for changing my powder room to be like the display even though was requested at tender and is in my tender. I can honestly say you don’t get any preferential treatment - it has taken 4 months to fix an error and I am building their most expensive house ever apparently. We had this type of situation, our laundry door cannot open/close because of the washing machine and dryer bench cabinet. This error was supposed to be part of major and minor changes, but the CSR only discover after 6 months. The CSR manager - Mieke fixed this issue, we didn't get charge for $350. Navy Highly recommend hiring a private inspector to check it out. I hired APBI and some of the stuff they checked were: I did. Some of the stuff they checked were: 1) quality of the wood used. i.e. if they were chipped or any damage etc 2) spacing between the columns. 3) placing of the studs 4) spacing of the dyna bolts used to secure the frame to slab. And the strength of the frame by jolting it to see how much it will move when force applied. 5) if the plumbing rough ins were filled with gel to secure the pipes from moving when water flows through them. 6) how many colums were used in places where the load falls on the frame and if that is sufficient or not 7) if the roof trusses are attached correctly or not And a few more that i cant remember. As for plumbing question - they have to lay the pipes etc within the frame before gyprock. Its called "rough in". Hope that clears your doubt.
