Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1021May 05, 2015 9:48 pm I cant remember what we did with data points, phone etc. I think we have the main box in the garage and then data and phone ports in study behind the kitchen. We toyed with wall mounting the phone in the hall beside the kitchen but changed that I think. can anyone tell me what sort of contact you have with your SS throughout the build? Mine hasnt contacted me at all yet. I called him to arrange the original meeting and i sent him a.text and an email asking a few things. How often should i reasonably expect an update? Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1022May 05, 2015 9:56 pm Finnsmamma can anyone tell me what sort of contact you have with your SS throughout the build? Mine hasnt contacted me at all yet. From reading everyone's posts on here it seems to vary. We have to call our SS for updates & chase things up and it's been like that from the start. We got a bit fed up with nothing happening for 2 weeks at a time and no communication. We've asked for weekly email updates and he agreed although we're yet to receive an email or a reply to ours. Thought texting might be better but he hasn't responded to those yet either! Hubby calls him almost on a weekly basis for updates etc. Good luck! We didn't know our piers were booked in to be done and the only reason we found out is because we called him. Even today we saw the hstp has been marked out etc but we know nothing about it. Would be nice to get updates like some of the lucky people do on here viewtopic.php?t=76386 Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1024May 05, 2015 10:05 pm Thanks guys, I'll need to check exactly where I have positioned everything... Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1025May 05, 2015 10:18 pm ASH Jordan Springs How exciting! Looking great Finnsmamma!! Question for everyone, where have you nominated for the internal communications cabinet to go? It's the one with the data and phone point.. Also are you supposed to have a meeting about data requirements etc? What about something to ensure foxtel can be installed later on, is there something I should do to ensure that's all good? Sorry, not a tech head at all... We had a Foxtel point put it. I had this added as a variation after colours appointment. The new Foxtel IQ3 box uses Wifi I believe so negates the need for the Foxtel point however the older IQ2 is still available. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1026May 06, 2015 5:02 am Hi guys, Quick question, we have gone with the 6 horizontal glass panels, 1200 wide front entrance door with normal clear glass. We thought it had a cleaner look then the clouded or non see through glass options. Whilst the front door only opens in to the hallway (like most I imagine) I'm thinking will this be a privacy issue? Would one recommend changing to a non see through glass option? Also I have deleted all the fly screen window and door options as I thought they looked ugly haha. I'm building on the Gold Coast about 1km back from the beach. Will I come to regret this with insects etc invading my house? We chose the same door option MatDon But did go for the translucent laminate glazing. Our door opens to the hallway and looks down towards bedroom door so there was no choice in my mind but to obscure the glass. The house across the road has clear glazing on their door and side panel and you always see movement around the house. Re the fly screens I would leave them on, it's not a terribly big cost to avoid mozzies, flys, moths and all sorts of little flyers. Unless you are looking at putting security screens on after handover, then I would save the money on fly screens. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1029May 06, 2015 7:07 am Hi Matdon, Same as s_mack, We have 1200mm door and also were thinking clear glass for light down the hallway but went translucent glazing for a little more privacy and our friends have it and light still does come through. I know fly screens are ugly we thought of doing same thing their also, but kept them, mozzies aren't good. We also put screens on our 4 meter bi part doors, which again did not want too, that one was hard but to be able to have doors all open for breeze and not get a tonne of mozzies coming in was the deciding factor. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1030May 06, 2015 9:11 am We have the same door and also with a side window the height of the door, all in normal glass, we were unsure what we should have gone so we went with the clear and can cover it/tint it I guess if need be. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1031May 06, 2015 9:15 am We added frosting for privacy after looking through similar clear doors. We had fly screens removed but only because we will have security screens put on later (too expensive through Coral). Cant do without screens and security as we love to leave windows and doors open for air flow day and night. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1032May 06, 2015 10:22 am I was told that frosted glass is a standard in bathrooms so you pay no extra. Is this right otherwise I need to add it to my quote. Thanks Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1034May 06, 2015 10:55 am Yep i didnt realise either, but at colour selections they let me.know that bathrooms and w/c are standard frosted in the elegance upgrade packagr. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1035May 06, 2015 11:14 am It's included but you can upgrade to alternatives Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1036May 06, 2015 11:51 am Finnsmamma Yep i didnt realise either, but at colour selections they let me.know that bathrooms and w/c are standard frosted in the elegance upgrade packagr. Sorry what's W/C? That's good to know. Thanks Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1038May 06, 2015 1:00 pm browndog Technically its a water closet why they call it that I dunno, small room with water in it but yeah its a seperate toilet I hope.. I wonder if it includes laundry then? It was about $50 in my quote to have the glass in the laundry door done. That's ok though Re: Coral Homes general build thread 1040May 06, 2015 7:25 pm BTTTB Just wanted to ask is $4000 enough for electrical allowance?? Just after reading prices for things I'm worried it's not enough, we are building a marcoola 30 For us it wasn't. Depends what you want extra? Fans, downlights , outside lights, heat and exhaust fan combos, extra power points, 2 way switches, outside power points, smoke alarm upgrades, etc. You should check your detail drawings, it may show downpipe within brick pier. 14 14769 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 15099 Hi so sorry for the late reply. I already contacted them and they wouldn't tell me instead they tried to get me to talk to one of their home coordinators and I'm not… 2 6344 |
