Ouch. I am 10 minutes from Warwick Farm. I can recommend Outback Jacks across the road for lunch. Beautiful wraps. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 1023Feb 07, 2014 6:14 pm Guys,
Just did my electrical appointment and thought I'd share my experience. It came down to about 10k for my electrical if I do everything with M. They had 3 led downlights on display, she recommended we go with the waterproof one for whole house and it cost less than the other two. The brand is SAL Lighting / Sunny Lighting, model S9071WP. This cost $76 supply and install. Don't forget you also have to add in $50 for any new light point. Practically its $126 per DL. I've decided to do down light myself after handover and just have batten (M calls it light point) where I want them. I rang one place from yellow pages and asked them how much they charge to install down light, batten are there already and I will supply the DL, he quoted "$14 per point" (based on qty of 50). Not sure if that is cheap or not. Based on this, I can save tiny bit while getting better quality down lights.. or I can save even more if I buy the same model they use. I also asked them...I have roof sarking, do I need to duct the exhaust fans to outside?? Apparently, my one already includes ducting to outside for all my bathroom and I did not have to add anything extra. I'm not sure if its standard inclusion for Villina or my sales guy had added it in for us since we did get free ducting for our range hood included. Hope that helps anyone going for electrical! Thanks. I have messaged the SS (as it was Sunday lunchtime) with pictures so they can investigate and advise. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 1030Feb 10, 2014 9:27 am sengu Chopdog, That looks bad! Looks to me like the tradies trying to save time cause there lazy to do it properly. The builders should seriously fire them for doing work like that. I know! I agree, what were they thinking? And also worryingly, doesn't the SS sign off on all works completed? Did they miss it? I'm still waiting for a reply from the SS but I have an email drafted up ready to go. Be really careful and push for everything to get fixed properly at each stage!!! If you have to, get in your own certifier. We had a stair protruding past the wall and had to push for it to be fixed up at that stage. I strongly recommend for people to get everything sorted as quickly as possible before making stage payments - we moved in at the end of June and are still trying to get things rectified - it is exceptionally frustrating!!!! I am still waiting for the SS to advise so forwarded an email with pictures. Payment request for Friday received and I will be holding off until I get an answer. Very stressful. You're still waiting after you have moved in, that is no good! Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 1033Feb 11, 2014 3:41 pm Pikey Well colour room was done and dusted today. Only took a few hours and no complaints the lady was terrific. We didn't upgrade much except for an extra tap out the front and a gully out the back for a pool drawers in the main bathroom vanity phone line connection thingy Upgrade to White Swirl QQ stone in kitchen and butler's pantry. No one had ever chosen it before with M (they had to add it to their database) I couldn't believe it as its so nice when you see it in a big piece....no chips or flecks just a lovely spilt milk blotchy look... Upgrade to the staircase to Stainless steel string and posts with a maple stained rail to match our architraves. All good looking forward to the electrical being over so we can stop spending extra on upgrades. Pikey, do you mind sharing the cost to upgrade to White Swirl? I have been having trouble finding a nice white without chips and flecks....without paying a big upgrade fee so I am very curious. Thanks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 1034Feb 11, 2014 5:13 pm So we had our colour selection appointment today in Warwick Farm. What a day! It's so fun to look at all the finishing touches and choose which ones you want. For those wondering, here is what we upgraded and associated costs: - For M to re-fix and paint skirting after floating floors are installed: $450.00 - Provide upgrade to garage door in Colourgain (wood appearance) range: $521.00 - Provide Oscar Gooseneck mixer to kitchen in lieu of standard: $85.00 (http://cooksplumbing.com.au/product/osc ... k-mixer-3/) --LOVE this! - Provide bevelled edges to mirrors in main bathroom & ensuite: $110.00 in total - Provide Oscar Twin Shower to ensuite: $470.00 (http://cooksplumbing.com.au/product/osc ... -system-2/) --Can't wait to finally use this! Will feel like being in a hotel every day! - Provide painted skirting and architraves in contrasting colour: $291.00 - Provide painted internal feature colour to home theatre: $264.00 And that's it! We tried to keep with everything standard as much as possible. Exterior: Sand bricks, off-white mortar, barramundi (traditional) roof, woodland grey windows, monument guttering, surfmist fascia and eaves, Caoba garage door, Rosewood bushfire resistant front door. For our internal colours we chose to have all walls, doors painted Morning Moon (http://www.taubmans.com.au/colourcentre ... 86/MORNING) (looks more like a warm grey IRL) and Crisp White for ceilings, architraves & skirting. Home theatre will be Teahouse from ceiling to floor with charcoal coloured carpets. Skirting & architraves will be in colonial style (really wanted the cornices to be Sydney Cove but couldn't justify the extra $2K). For our kitchen we have the standard Baumatic appliances with the freestanding gas cooker. Our benchtop is Luna White, cupboards Ultra White with a grey splashback. Bathrooms also have the Luna White stone, but we chose to have Strata Grey in the main bathroom and Tessuto Milan in the ensuite (both bathrooms have grey floor tiles, the main bathroom has white wall tiles and the ensuite has grey wall tiles). I also convinced the husband to have a handshower in the main bathroom and Dali 3 piece taps in the ensuite so cheering about that! Anyway I think that's about it, sorry for the essay I'm just so excited that things are finally moving along! Looking forward to getting our call for our electrical some time this week. I was charged an extra 2.5k to go to a depth of 1.8m. They most definitely didnt go that deep. I reeckon I deserve a credit on some of that extra variation they added. Also, I am being charged for an extra 52m of temporary fencing. The contract says 92m all up now. Thing is, they have only used 27m and the site supervisor said they wont be using anymore. I dont think I should have to pay the extra 700 bucks for the extra 52m, when I didnt even use the standard amount allowed. And how long did it take after the plans were done (correctly) before you started building? We have been waiting for months now, still in the pre-construction stage. Our plans were with the drafting department for over 2 months before they came back for CDC application. That was last week, no idea how long it's going to take now. Very frustrating considering our Sales Rep told us we'd be starting in Jan at the very latest. But there's not much that can be done about it.
