Re: Our first build: 103May 17, 2016 8:32 am I love this mood board, so inspiring. Love the light cream mosaic look splashback. Flooring looks lovely too. We have been negotiating a deal on Karndean Van Gogh range for vinyl laminate planks. Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 104May 17, 2016 9:46 am Yes we are trying to decide between light and dark. So difficult. - otherwise known as Kym - Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 105May 17, 2016 9:48 am Light makes the space feel bigger where as dark closes everything in, if that helps. I also think dark colours outdate and then come back in trends where as light colours always seem to be in season Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 106May 17, 2016 12:21 pm Yep that's what's holding me back charli. But then we love the dark flooring with white cupboards to make it all pop and give it a point of difference. - otherwise known as Kym - Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 107May 17, 2016 12:36 pm I do love the sound of the dark flooring! I really want charcoal grey 650x650 tiles but am worried about the house looking smaller! Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 108May 17, 2016 2:08 pm Yay! Love your mood boards! Hope you're enjoying selections and that everything works out with your little one. My son was assessed for autism-spectrum. He was seeing an OT but has since caught up with his peers and is doing great. Still has his quirks but socially and academically doing well. I thought about future furniture and paint colour changes too when choosing laminate flooring colour...some colours don't go with dark floors...can't wait to see your selections xx Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 109May 17, 2016 6:47 pm Hope today went well with your daughter and selections! Xx Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 110May 17, 2016 10:50 pm Ok colours!!! How fun is that! Haha I'm so pumped to see it come together. We never actually set out to have a grey/white theme but I think that's how it's turned out. I love all of our selections. We are lucky we are first in for our builder! We got first pick of the brick range so our neighbors can't choose the same as us. Phew! Lol Ok here we go! Super pumped. - otherwise known as Kym - Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 111May 18, 2016 12:57 am I like that stone bench top - I noticed it had a new sticker on it....I might need to drop into my kitchen place and have a look. Like you we didn't set out for a white and grey home, but slowly with each choice the house became that way. I currently have dark floors in my current house as I have wooden floorboards, so I matched it with dark chocolate carpet (its funny as my current house I have made it brown tones and my new house is grey tones) and it looks great. I think if you go with a lighter wall colour it helps with not having the room look smaller. You're doing tiles on your front portico, I nope to do that one day. Are you having a brick or brick bottom pillar for your front of your bridgewater? If its a post then make sure you get the t-blade stirrup, this way they will be able to tile just under the post and the post will look like its sitting right on top of the tile and really fit in well with that look. I have a photo of mine if you want to see what I am talking about. Love the tiles for the ensuite, we really have similar tastes I didn't know everyone has to have a different brick in your estate - glad I could choose anything I wanted. There is a house around the corner from mine with the same brick, but has a colourbond surfmist roof so that is our difference. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 112May 18, 2016 3:09 am Love your selections wish i could see it finished before i make mine hehe
Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 113May 18, 2016 6:13 am Thanks shell! I was really worried it would look bland and stark but I think the glossy white tiles gives it something and the dark floors. We've also got to purchase our fans (x6) so we can have a bit of fun with that too. The activity room may be a bit dark as its on the southern side but I couldn't justify changing the whole look of the house for one room that the kids are in and won't care lol The wall colour we went really light and kitchen went very white to brighten up the room and make it all pop. I can't wait to buy a new colorful toaster and kettle hahaha. I'm hoping it will give it the wow that we want. We had no idea about the bricks. Although I think that's a builders thing not an estate thing. so it doesn't look like everyone has got carbon copies of each other. Gjs have quite a few house and land in there so for the houses immediately around us, our tile choice will be scrapped for them and they have to choose the other ones in the coast range. We are having a chunky timber post the whole way down. I have no idea what a t-blade stirrup is. I'd love a pic so I can ask about it. Thanks Townsville-thanks!! Haha id love to show you! When do you think you'll have your selections? - otherwise known as Kym - Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 114May 18, 2016 6:23 am Gorgeous selections Kym!! Looks like you did your mood boards justice! I love love love the bench top, might have to persuade the hubby to go outside the box and choose something other than white haha. Girls your big timber posts are making me rethink my rendered brick pillars Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 115May 18, 2016 6:29 am Thanks charli!! As soon as I saw it I fell in love and that sealed the deal on the kitchen cabinetry and upgrading to caesarstone. Now I feel ill be flooding this with furniture options until I can post about the build lol - otherwise known as Kym - Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 116May 18, 2016 6:36 am Are you having waterfall ends? Go nuts, I love seeing furniture and all thing decor. Can't wait to see your build come to life! It's going to look soooo beautiful. Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 117May 18, 2016 7:08 am Nope no waterfall ends unfortunately. We didn't want to go too crazy on the old budget. Excellent!! Lookout Pinterest. Haha. We have pretty much an entertainment cabinet, my Nan's dressing table and beds. That's it. That's all that would fit in this flat so we are starting fresh with furniture too. - otherwise known as Kym - Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 118May 18, 2016 7:15 am My husband and I went and checked out display houses on the weekend up in Brisbane and funnily enough none that we looked at had waterfall ends, not even the GJ house we looked at. Maybe it's a dying trend? Ooh very nice!!! Can't wait to see your inspo! At least there is a light at the end of the tunnel and you won't be in that flat for too much longer. We are starting out with fresh furniture too, I am loving Harvey Norman for furniture at the moment, although I can't make any purchases until close to handover as we have no where to store it Re: Our first build: "Bridgewater" by Gj's Shoalhaven 120May 18, 2016 2:30 pm This is a t-blade stirrup system - they had ours made due to having big posts. Basically they sit under the post with a flat piece going inside and screwed through the post so you don't have a large gap at the bottom or ugly steel around the bottom of your post. Here is looking down on it. This is the bolts bolting the post to it. And what is looks like underneath and then you can place your tiles under it when tiling. Otherwise the other types used is This one shows the bracket on the outside Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Or you end up with a huge gap from floor to bottom of post which can be cheap looking from a distance.
