Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 12, 2009 9:02 pm Hi, our kitchen has just been installed and i've just noticed that some of our handle positions are not what we requested in the contract. I'm not sure whether to make an issue about it or if they look okay. This is our island bench-all the handles were meant to be in the "horizontal centre and top" position like the two centre cupboards. This is our main bench-all the handles were meant to be in the "horizontal centre and top" position like the two outside cupboards. What do you think??? Re: Do you think these handle positions look okay? 3Jul 12, 2009 9:26 pm I agree with A4E. They look good. Building the Pl@ntation Retreat on 4009m2. All moved in!!!!!! The cupboard handles should be at the same level as the top drawer handles. Picturing the kitchens in my family's, and friends homes, none of their drawer handles are lined up at the top to match the cupboards. Try googling some kitchens online, I'm sure most the results will look just like your kitchen. Re: Do you think these handle positions look okay? 6Jul 12, 2009 9:58 pm I think that they look fine BUT...for me I think that the cupboard handles not being lined up with the top drawer handles would drive me crazy, but I'm a bit nutty like that. I BET that this will happen to me as well when my kitchen is built. EDIT- If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it. After 2 weeks you'll forget about it and it really does look fine as it is, hardly noticable. If you hadn't have told us we wouldn't have known. Pick your battles and this is a teeny one, it's fine, truly. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Do you think these handle positions look okay? 7Jul 12, 2009 10:37 pm I'm going to throw a spanner in the works...mine all line up (although my pot drawers are the wrong size). If it really bothers you and was not what you expected then get them to change them all. Check your plans/contract carefully though! I 'expected' my cupboard handles NOT to be in the centre, but towards where the door opens. It's OK on the skinnier cupboards, but I don't really like it on the thicker cupboards on my island: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ There is no where written in my colours where to actually put the handles, I just knew I wanted them horizontal, and that's all I recall being asked. My SS says that's how all the displays are done and it depends on your size handles. I went through all my 'display photos' and have seen several with my size handle and placed towards the edge of the cupboard opening....go figure. At this stage I am prepared to wear them, and will get used to them. Despite all this, I LOVE the colour of your kitchen!!! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! It seems to be a 50/50 divided option so go with whatever you prefer. Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. I honestly don't think the majority of people would notice it. You're going to be the one looking at it all the time though, and if it's going to bug you then I think it's worth mentioning. I love the look of how they are meant to be from the photos you have sent but i'm not sure if the way mine are as just as nice. Hmmm i'll have to think about this one a bit longer..... Re: Do you think these handle positions look okay? 13Jul 13, 2009 11:16 am IMO in your case, as the handles are not adjacent to each other, I think the way they are now is best. If the units were side by side, then they would look best aligned. Ed "ECOECO" At 'EcoEco', we design windows, we design the best windows, we do it for you, so that when you’re happy we are happy. They have been installed in the top half, all my other handles are vertical so these handles dont line up with anything and I really hate them. I have been given the choice of getting them changed and I think I will http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/yy74/xrayspice/18july020rrr.jpg Vanity with my round basin!!!!! http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/yy74/xrayspice/18july021hhh.jpg Re: Do you think these handle positions look okay? 18Aug 04, 2009 8:44 pm Hi buildingwithhamra, I hummed and haaed about the same dilemma as yours for a couple of days as I was tossing up whether they were okay, but in the end it sort of annoyed me that they didn't line up and we paid a fortune for the colorform cupboards and upgraded handles so I requested it got changed. I don't think they were thrilled about it but it was explicitely worded in the contract as the handles to all be "top and centre" so I don't think they had much choice. I figure you're just a number in their system and in time they won't remember who you are, but you'll be left with something that annoys you forever. Re: Do you think these handle positions look okay? 20Aug 04, 2009 10:27 pm I would definitely change it. My cabinet makers forgot to ask specifics about handle placement, and all of the drawer handles were horizontal, but the only cupboard doors had vertical handles.
