Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 18, 2009 10:04 am I think it is a good idea to start another thread for people building with Ashford Homes to share their building experiences/progress.
We have been at completion stage since 10 october 2008 and we are finally booked in for walk-through this Friday and hope that the items that are yet to be installed will be done before Friday. We have organised for Kevin to accompany us for final inspection. braveheart Re: Anyone building with Ashford Homes 2Feb 18, 2009 5:31 pm Fingers crossed for you BH...
I hope it all goes well Re: Anyone building with Ashford Homes 3Feb 19, 2009 1:07 pm Great news! I really hope it goes well. What needs to be done before Friday?
We had expected our walk-through at end of month, but it all seems very unlikely ... we're getting there though - whatever, it shouldn't (shouldn't!!) be much longer now. My husband took the day off work yesterday to complete a couple of jobs (house related) but mainly to meet with SM for update ... but can you believe he didn't turn up!!! We'd organised a baby-sitter as well ... was not happy and still not happy! No apology as yet either. Anyway - fingers crossed for you!! Re: Anyone building with Ashford Homes 5Feb 19, 2009 5:32 pm Good luck for tomorrow braveheart, I hope it goes well and you are in your new home soon! Just want to say that we followed up with SM re. not turning up the other day and it seems that my husband was at fault by not being clear with time and day. Quite possible!! Re: Anyone building with Ashford Homes 8Feb 20, 2009 9:07 pm We had our walk-through as you are all aware accompanied by big Kev. The things that have not been installed include; glass balustrade rear of the house, stainless steel balustrade front of house, slab behind garage, glazing/repair of roof, kitchen appliances (to be installed last), and electrical works (in progress). Apart from minor issues including fixing up tiling, insulation, paintwork etc. etc. the walkthrough was ok and the SS was quiet gracious/ pleasant and was happy to have the issues resolved.
Weezb: we are very surprised at how much work SS has been able to get the tradies to do over the last week considering the fact that nothing had been happening since the beginning of the year. We had a number of tradies on site today - first time we have seen so much activity at our house. We have been promised handover in the next two weeks and hopefully your house will be next. You will be surprised at how fast things will move once your house is targeted for completion. braveheart Re: Anyone building with Ashford Homes 9Feb 22, 2009 4:26 pm Braveheart - pleased to hear that walk-through went well. Phew! I'm sure you must both be very excited now knowing that handover is so close.
We met with SS and he is aiming for walk through by 6 March with the hope that handover takes place a couple of weeks later. Our fingers are so tightly crossed. It does seem that it is all coming together now. Good luck for your handover!! reply 10Feb 22, 2009 4:31 pm Great to hear everything went okay. Have you got a date for handover and keys yet? PHOTOS PLEASE! Built the Atlantique 37 Mk2 with Carlisle Homes - WE'RE IN!! Building thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=14413 ATLANTIQUE 37 MK2 PHOTOS THREAD - updated 22nd August '09 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22399 Re: Anyone building with Ashford Homes 11Feb 22, 2009 5:17 pm WeezB: I am so excited for you - you will be able to move into your new house probably a couple of weeks after us. We are so excited and looking forward to handover although there are a few things we have to do ourselves after handover (mainly floors and render).
Despite the delay, we have been so lucky to have good tradies working on our house, the painter has done a fantastic job, the carpenters and the plasterer did a wonderful job that we have not had a lot of wall cracking even with the hot weather, and we are happy with the plumbers and the electrician as they are all experienced guys. Salt and pepper: I haven't taken any photos lately (been very lazy) but I will try and take some on next site visit. braveheart Re: Anyone building with Ashford Homes 12Feb 23, 2009 11:07 am Cleishy: at what stage are you? The overall building process has not been quick, in fact it has been very very slow - we are talking about the end of completion stage. The quality of building is ok but you have to be patient when it comes to the building process otherwise you will be so frustrated because we have been waiting for nearly 2 years since start of the building process with the builder.
Where are building? If you are building in S.E. you might be lucky to get the same tradies that have build our house. braveheart Re: Anyone building with Ashford Homes 13Feb 24, 2009 10:21 am Cleishy: what time-frame were you looking at? Are you building a single or double storey? I think Martme's single storey house took over 14 months from site start to completion. As I said earlier we have been at completion stage since beginning of October (almost 5 months) but at least things have started moving and we are hoping for handover in a couple of weeks. braveheart Re: Anyone building with Ashford Homes 15Mar 04, 2009 1:11 pm Cleishy, it might take a lot less time to build your house than what ours has taken because there was change of management mid-late last year. I think with the new management, they are trying their best to build houses at a quicker pace considering the amount of houses they have to get to completion.
We have been promised handover possibly next week if everything goes alright and minor issues still outstanding are sorted out. We visited the site this morning and there was a lot of activity going on, overall we are happy with the quality of the work and communication with the builder. braveheart Re: Anyone building with Ashford Homes 16Mar 05, 2009 8:57 am Cleishy, we also found that the administrative part took quite abit of time but to speed up things we did most of the things ourselves including council and developer applications and approvals. We also found that speaking directly to the administrative people involved in processing the paperwork at head office to ensure that they are lodged on time (rather than just the salesperson) did speed up things.
I hope you get your building permit soon. braveheart Re: Anyone building with Ashford Homes 17Mar 05, 2009 8:44 pm Visited the site today, a lot has been done, our back glass balustrade has been installed and it looks a million dollars, our front balcony is also been done, electrical work nearly finished, rangehood installed (just waiting to be vented through roof tiles), tiler in the process of rectifying minor tile defects, concrete behind garage has been done, etc., etc.,. Very impressed - all is looking good for possible handover next week. I will try and take and post photos tomorrow. braveheart Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 25756 I haven’t. But have a Lowe Design home. Not only did I find Matt Lowe patronising and a bully, but the home is NOT TO CODE. I have water coming through the bricks… 1 15579 Hi we are looking to talk to people who have built with them recently. We have signed mid range built contract but identified that a lot of things are not included.… 0 1674 |
