Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Plantation shutters - if you could afford it, would you? 64Mar 21, 2013 9:33 am I love mine - I got them colour matched to my timber laminate flooring. So they are dark almost black stained poplar. Was able to get them on a take home layby interest free which made coughing up the money for them a lot easier when it was spaced over 18 months Sleven Moved into our Atlantique MkII 36 by Carlisle Homes Re: Plantation shutters - if you could afford it, would you? 66Mar 21, 2013 4:34 pm di+matt Out of interest, what is the cost of plantation shutters? I remember once talking to a lady at spotlight and she said she had quoted a customer $40k for her entire house... On various forums people have said they've got shutters in bathrooms and the main bedroom only to save on cost. I wonder how much it was to do their entire house? Anyone have any quote experiences? How much would you budget for all window coverings?? I have 17 windows done in white shutters. They are differing materials (mostly painted HDF and Custom Craft (plastic) for the wet areas). Total cost about 3 years ago was $10K. Worth every cent!! Love them to bits!! You can see mine Here: http://stormygirlscastle.blogspot.com.a ... re-in.html Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... They came in cheaper than the curtains. I know they are not as affoardable as roller/roman style blinds but I was suprised at the price and ours are being made from basswood. I dont think they are a trend, the Americans have been using them for decades and they always look stylish. I cant wait to see mine fitted. Re: Plantation shutters - if you could afford it, would you? 68Mar 21, 2013 6:09 pm i also looking forward to my shutters being installed only just ordered so need to wait a couple of months Re: Plantation shutters - if you could afford it, would you? 69Mar 21, 2013 8:50 pm Stormy di+matt Out of interest, what is the cost of plantation shutters? Thanks for sharing definitely worth it... Especially if its just a few thousand different... I feel shutters will last forever, look great with any furniture and they make your house look a million bucks!!! Re: Plantation shutters - if you could afford it, would you? 70Mar 21, 2013 9:49 pm The double rollers seem to be the same price as the shutters, I would be looking to go the shutters over the double roller blinds IMHO Re: Plantation shutters - if you could afford it, would you? 71Mar 22, 2013 12:07 pm Yours look awesome Stormy!! Great job. I do love them, the only thing that slightly bothers me is that when they're open, people can see in (which is the case with a lot of window coverings I guess) My Hamptons build (completed): viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63370 Moved in Wednesday 11th Dec 2013 Front landscaping completed June 2016 Re: Plantation shutters - if you could afford it, would you? 72Mar 22, 2013 12:16 pm Cinder, it depends how close your house is set to the road. I found that splitting the pole that adjusts them in two allows for better filtering of light. We normally leave our top ones open, even at night as nobody can see in and it still lets in brreze Re: Plantation shutters - if you could afford it, would you? 73Mar 22, 2013 3:04 pm Wow Stormy, those shutters look amazing! Re: Plantation shutters - if you could afford it, would you? 80Jan 07, 2020 6:43 pm I've just had my plantation shutters redone by Global Roller Shutters for just under $7000. It was a big project and they were the cheapest in the area (Epping, Victoria.) I think it was worth every dollar. The ones I had before were from the previous century The downside was the wait..I've had to wait for a couple of months before they came out to install. I suppose the holiday season had an impact on the waiting time Hello everyone Please advice me how can I install mesh security window or we cab say mesh flyscreen inside while the pvc plantation shutters are already installed?
