Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1765Jan 07, 2013 6:09 pm Tarsha - sorry to hear that your dog is worse. We don't have much luck either when it comes to vet bills. W spent $1300 last month and still have more to spend as our largest dog needs her yearly vaccinations and due to her size we are looking at about $350 Annoyed today. Promised bricklayers for 7th, still don't have bricks. Called SS and he is off on annual leave until 14th. I doubt anything will happen is week now, which is not what I was promised. If nothing happens this week, the house will have been sitting idle for a full month Modified Fernside 38 Rawson Homes Blog: http://www.thehousethatmatandjenbuilt.blogspot.com Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60501 Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1766Jan 07, 2013 7:09 pm Jen, I am surrounded by construction and new estates. Did not see any tradies today anywhere... next doors R had no one on it and no SS to be sighted. He really should not have said the 7th if he really meant the 14th.. No completed pool for me this week. Certifier for Pool fence not back to the 14th, stuck till it gets approved ! But did find some tadpoles in the bottom of the pool. YUK Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1767Jan 07, 2013 7:20 pm No trades worked in our estate today. Just the odd SS zipping around and a few deliveries. Built the Seaview 36 with Rawson Homes - Read about it on my blog http://lamaisondemorgan.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1768Jan 07, 2013 8:13 pm I was promised 7th. Rawson put out info saying they were closed from 21/12 and opened on 7/1. I asked specifically and was told they were back 7th. Trying to be patient. Tomorrow is day 70 and we are only up to frames. Received a call from our SS this morning advising that the brickies were on site and ready to go! Did a drive by (as you do) and were surprised at how much was done. The front was bricked to around 1800 and half way down the opposite side to the garage. I like their dedication and speed, but hope for their sake that they are not going to be working in the heat forecasted for Sydney tomorrow. I would not work in that heat and can hardly expect them to work either. Hopefully things pick up for the ret of you guys shortly. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1770Jan 07, 2013 9:03 pm Jen, I know its annoying waiting and waiting. We signed our Tender at the same time as you and we dont even have our Construction Plans yet. We are way behind you . . . And today I am told they cant be drawn until our kitchen quote and sketches are received by Rawson (noting they were signed by me in mid Nov!!!!). Not happy. In the meantime, we are doing a tile re-selection as we have decided to move away from the browns and go towards the greys. We will also change our carpet. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1771Jan 07, 2013 9:20 pm Thanks for the thoughts on our pup he is ok today. hubby bought him a little doggy tent type thing and he seems much more comfortable but still has too much energy.. Valium does nothing lol Jen they dont miss you the specialist in Sydney actually said to my husband "I hear the $$ are good in WA" Wish I had been there haha I'm sure by what our surgery estimates were, he is on much much more... There were brickies working on the house across from where we currently are today however their bricks, sand and mixer were delivered before Christmas.. (Same SS Jen) Hubby saw SS going to the boat shop in the Terrace today but was kind enough to leave him alone knowing he wasn't working haha We got a nice surprise when we called out to our house for the first time since Friday before Christmas and more Gyprocking had been done.. We have a roof and by the look of it the joins have been covered and corners tidied up not sure if that was from over the break or today.. But hopefully before because they had actually managed to cover the cornices that were exposed to the elements.. The Rise Boooooooo to no pool Tondar - Pictures?? S36 we are into the greys as well My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1772Jan 07, 2013 9:58 pm Tondar - Its reassuring to know you also had issues that were resolved. I didn't know you were building at Gregory Hills. My sister is also building with R in the next street in our estate and they lodged with council a week before Christmas. I hope your house will be built by the time bubs arrives, it would make life easier! In regards to the slab in the garage, it is really sandy. Our SS said they will actually have to put a coating or something similar over it. I am not sure at what stage in the build that this will happen though. I am really happy with him at this point, every time he says something will be done and the date, its always happens. He even had brickies lined up for the 2nd January but unfortunately they ran out of the bricks and they said we would not get them until the 14th January. When I spoke to him before the Christmas break he said they will be earlier and they are going to be delivered on the 8th January. We are excited for them to be delivered tomorrow. All of our plumbing was done over the Christmas break and they were back today to complete it and we now have water! Smorgzzz - Thank you for your photos of your beautiful home and your works in progress. Its great to see that you have had a positive experience and speak so highly of R and the SS. We have a Labrador and I think we will have to have fences before we move in (even though it is harder to keep him outside than in!) Tarsha - I hope your pup will recover quickly and you are able to get the best treatment for him. Jen - It seems like building can be a slow process at times and then other times it is all happening. I get impatient watching other builds around us and seeing the houses sit there for long periods of time, especially when they look really close to finished! I will also be impatient when this happens to us, which I am sure it will. I think the admin stage taught me how to be patient and I know the build will not be anywhere near as frustrating! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1773Jan 08, 2013 5:20 am Tarsha we have been to two specialists vets in Sydney. One at strathfield and the other just off the M2 not far from chatswood. All I can say is ouch. We had our boxer operated on as she had a cancer lump in her leg and needed it removed and a skin graft to close it and that operation was $4500. They actually rung us before we came and picked her up to warn us how much it was. To put her under the anaesthetic it was $1500 as you said the wages in WA don't come close to a specialist vet Modified Fernside 38 Rawson Homes Blog: http://www.thehousethatmatandjenbuilt.blogspot.com Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60501 Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1774Jan 08, 2013 5:23 am Quote: There were brickies working on the house across from where we currently are today however their bricks, sand and mixer were delivered before Christmas.. I am concerned about the wall colour and also the Island bench and want to change these. I know its probably going to incur a cost but these are important and now that I have got our LED lights (a close friend got them for us with his staff discount) I am worried about the wall colour we chose. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1777Jan 08, 2013 6:59 am depends on how far you are into the building process. we changed during the variation process, all colors. and in the building variation process we changed the doors and also deleted a few doors. The fee is $450. It says it in the contract. Just becareful because they tried to charge us $600 until I raised the relevant clause. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1779Jan 08, 2013 5:18 pm A little bit of progress today. Went past the block this afternoon and we have finally received our bricks - nearly a month late Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Modified Fernside 38 Rawson Homes Blog: http://www.thehousethatmatandjenbuilt.blogspot.com Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60501 Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1780Jan 08, 2013 11:12 pm More good news- the specialist in Sydney said today at Olly's checkup that he is glad he did not operate as Olly has improved more!! Jen - thats awesome that you got your bricks!! I didn't count the weeks over christmas I've just written them off Is the house you are thinking the one behind the church in the Terrace? Maybe those Brickies are on their way to your place? Mel I changed something 2 days before the SS got the file but was lucky because Rawson had to make a change as well so I didn't incur the fee but if its after construction has started I dont think you could get around it..
