Ring Pgh and see if they can give you address of houses where the brick has been used close by. Do you have a PGH up there or do you have to go to Scholfields ?? Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1310Nov 07, 2012 7:48 pm Yeah in the Hunter. There's a PGH out at Thornton. I'll give them a bell tomorrow and see if they can send me a list of houses that have been built using the Espresso. Thanks The Rise Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1311Nov 07, 2012 8:56 pm Thats very informative The Rise.Thanks..oh did i mention before I love your colors too...love the black brick... munchi We might have to head down to PGH again on the weekend for a look (I don't remember seeing the Espresso, on the Apollo..). We are heading down to Austral to look Blackstone!! I am waiting patiently (rather impatiently ) for variations to come out. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1312Nov 08, 2012 1:55 am The rise - I forgot how much I love your house! I think your kitchen splash back is the tile as our features for the bathrooms! I'm contemplating changing a white splash back now.. Have you had much trouble keeping it clean?? So we had our tile appointment last wednesday and I still don't have a selections sheet or costing sheet. Took 2 phonecalls today to even get a return phonecall and a promise that it would be emailed to me before they went home.. Well I guess they are doing a hell of a lot of overtime today because I haven't got either of them yet. Sorely disappointed but it'll annoy them more than me as when these things drag out I tend to change my mind on things... Oh well Heading out to the block in the morning (before I trek to Sydney to see if my arm needs an op or not) hopefully there will be people there working - provided it isnt raining - otherwise I will be asking for answers lol My very first blog http://benham33.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1313Nov 08, 2012 5:39 am Tarsha - Good luck today! Hope you get the best outcome for your arm. Hoping for some progress on your block too. TheRise - What window coverings are you doing on your stacker doors? I'm still at a loss as to what to do there. Jen - We have gone with the tile drain to all drains except for the main bathroom. Our neighbours are building with All Ca$tle. DH told the trades off and I'll be driving past and checking daily to ensure it doesn't happen and take it further if it happens again. No progress yesterday, hoping there is someone there today. I told DH about your electricity and he said to call the police. Unfortunately you can't be there all the time, so hopefully they listened to your DH and don't use your power again Tarsha - good luck today. Hopefully your arm is healing. Munchi - PGH at Thornton will give you a list of the houses with espresso brick. We went there and they were very helpful, however, be prepared for a drive, they generally aren't close Modified Fernside 38 Rawson Homes Blog: http://www.thehousethatmatandjenbuilt.blogspot.com Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60501 Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1315Nov 08, 2012 6:25 am Also keen to hear ideas on the coverings for the corner stackers? Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1316Nov 08, 2012 6:34 am Jen without looking at the invoice I think $80ish If we catch them again it'll go further! Built the Seaview 36 with Rawson Homes - Read about it on my blog http://lamaisondemorgan.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1317Nov 08, 2012 7:19 am I was thinking about leaving our corner stackers blind-free.. Still keen to hear what people are doing for their's though as I might decide once I'm in that I want blinds there, especially since we'll be living on a golf course. Looking into getting some pricing for Moroka for all the house (bar the front facade, that will be rendered). My CSO didn't quite understand my question and only quoted the back wall which came in at about $1000. That's pretty decent.. I'm thinking that if the total comes in around $4k we might just bag and paint the house - saves the stress of slurry face bricks and we were intending to upgrade to the Austral Blackstone which is $4k anyway! I think we'll still brick the garage though with the Blackstone, it'll make the house look much nicer from the front. If we bag and paint we'll probably do it in a Monument type colour which I think would look pretty cool with a Windspray roof. Also got my CSO to quote stack stone for the two end pillars as opposed to the centre pillar and the quote came in $300 less than getting just the centre pillar done.. Considering we might do this and just get the centre pillar rendered and raked on every 7th join (like they were intending to do with the other pillars originally). Having two pillars in the stack stone means you get more bang for your buck I guess. What do you guys think? Gosh.. everytime I think that I have this sorted, we change our minds! So many options! Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1318Nov 08, 2012 8:53 am Munchi I like the idea of the blackstone around the garage and the two smaller columns with stack stone. I think that will look really smart. Smorgzzz i guess $80 isnt too bad either. We would have 8 if we go for all of them, so maybe it is one of those things that I might pass on. We dont have corner stackers, but do have two sets of stackers that are side by side at the back of the house. In our last house we had no window coverings at all on the stackers and it was fine. In the new house, it is 66metres to the back fence, so there is no worries with privacy. Depending on the sunlight that we get into the house, we might put holland/roller blinds up. if we put two per stacker, then you can open one if you need to get out, but still have the full coverage. We have a stacker in the bedroom that goes out onto the balcony. DH works nights, so we need thick curtains to block out the light for that stacker. I wanted Stackstone or tile on our pillars but the Rawson price was crazy, so thought we'd do it after handover. The original plans were fully bricked pillars at the colour appointment, but when they drew up the council plans the entire pillars were rendered on the plan and they did end up rendering it, which was a bonus. But the render looks really good and I think i've gone off the idea of stackstone. It hasnt been painted yet, so may depend on colour as we chose it specifically for another part of the render not knowing this will be the colour of the pillar. Re: Our Benham 33 journey 1320Nov 08, 2012 9:21 am Jen - I was thinking of having no window coverings & just doing a pelmet over the top like in the display home to finish it off. Our neighbours can't see into our house as they're lower down and a single storey and our alfresco is on the side.
