I think your house looks beautiful no matter what, but it's your house and you have to be happy with it. Baldivis Build: wardrobe fitout and dilemma 589Jul 18, 2012 10:17 pm Hey Vans, can you tell me if it costs extra to put draws in instead of the cupboards? Is it expensive? We would like the majority of our kitchen done with draws, so want to be slightly prepared if need be. Building the Riva by Dale Alcock Homes. One lot of our drawers is our cutlery drawers which you get included, and our pot drawers were included in a promotional package. We originally had our them with one cupboard between them, but deleted the cupboard and made the drawers wider (almost 1m) at no cost. I remember asking for a quote to put drawers in the ensuite (go from 4 cupboards to 2 with 2 lots of drawers) and it was over $1000, i am thinking closer to $2000 as i remember how stunned i was at the price, just for drawers!:O if we could afford the extra, we would have gone to drawers the whole way. Easier to keep organised! But alas, the cash disappeared fast at prestart! :’( Re: Baldivis Build: wardrobe fitout and dilemma 591Jul 19, 2012 9:35 am I think the original colour that is on the display home compliments the darker colours and garage better so yes i would get it repainted. Re: Baldivis Build: wardrobe fitout and dilemma 592Jul 19, 2012 9:43 am Thanks for advice on paint colour everyone. Hubby didn't care, but i decided to change it. We absolutely regretted compromising on the tiles. The tiles look good, but i know they would have looked great. Will we still feel the same with the paint if we compromise? It looks good now but it might look better with our original choice. So getting it changed, just a matter of when. And when our other list gets finished. The waiting game never ends! Re: Baldivis Build: wardrobe fitout and dilemma 593Jul 19, 2012 10:59 am The Vans We absolutely regretted compromising on the tiles. The tiles look good, but i know they would have looked great. The waiting game never ends! why are you regretting on tiles. Are you talking about floor tiles? I think your tiles look great. I love your tiles and specially little grout Re: Baldivis Build: wardrobe fitout and dilemma 594Jul 19, 2012 12:12 pm Oooh I love your WIR fitout. How did you find the quality of the Bunnings kits? They are on my list of things to look at, along with the IKEA ones. I would change the colours too, you deserve to have the colours you want, afterall you asked for it (and are paying for it) Re: Baldivis Build: wardrobe fitout and dilemma 595Jul 19, 2012 2:39 pm Not regretting our floor tiles. Our ensuite and bathroom wall tiles! We picked out a certain size, the size was written down wrong so the wrong ones were ordered. We did our tile meeting and I had no proof to say they were wrong as they were on the paperwork. When I went home and got on the computer and found the photo of the correct tiles, I emailed Dales and we had the choice to stick with the tiles that had arrived and on the paperwork OR wait and get the ones we had asked for. We chose to stick to the ones that had arrived for our bathroom/ensuite but get the other size for our kitchen/laundry. Whilst the size we have in the bath/ensuite are nice, the kitchen and laundry wall tiles (splashback) look AWESOME! So regret that we compromised the bath/ensuite! The quality of the the bunnings wardrobes seem fine so far! They seem on par with the Ikea ones. The Ikea ones have a backing though (the Bunnings ones we got have the sides and tops, no backing so exposed to the wall). Good and bad about it like this i guess. without the backing it allows for air flow. And is cheaper! Bunnings do do one with a backing board. But then it is harder to customise the size. After multiple measures of different units from different places, this bunnings one was the best to suit the area, and looks good. I am very happy with it! Re: Baldivis Build: wardrobe fitout and dilemma 596Jul 19, 2012 3:19 pm Awesome, thanks for that. It is good to hear the bunnings ones are good quality. It looks fantastic! Draws are also easier to organise and I find my little ones don't go into them. Building the Riva by Dale Alcock Homes. Not too happy. Sent an email off today to ask what is happening. We need to the kitchen tap fixed or replaced. Ensuite toilet fixed (this was noticed AFTER key handover) Bathroom tiles that are scratched to be replaced A bit of render was ripped off when gutters were replaced. Render if fixed, but not the painting. Bath to be fixed from scratches. Bath plug And I am sure one or two other things. Just received an email saying site supervisor will call tomorrow. Hope he does...had the same message a few weeks ago and then he was sick. I know we can't help being sick, but never received a call at all! Onto other things. Our letterbox is getting done. Was to be today but the rain has messed things up! Will be Friday now. The footins have been done, bricks are all there, just need the rain to clear. It is going to be awesome! The guys doing it are great, efficient and friendly, and keen. a lot of brickies in the area obviously have too much money and are too busy as they aren't keen to do extra work. These guys are super keen, going to quote for our paving and I have two referals for them! Still to do painting inside around the tiled areas. We were going to get a start on it this weekend, but the paint shop was closed! Couldn't believe it! Also started buying plants for when the landscaping gets done...he was charging so much money for all his plants if we wanted specifc sorts (which all seemed to cost an extra $100 each!) so we asked if we could supply plants, he plant them...yes he can and so we did. So far we have 4 magnolia little gems. 2 baby sago palms 4 cordylines, but can't remember what sort now! 4 dianella spray mists (need another 6) 4 yuccas (a gum tree bargain) 2 will be in our back yard for when we do that ourselves. Also going to buy some mondo grass, and want to find some phorium chocomint mist plants, but can't find them anywhere! If anyone knows where I can get them, that would be great! Enjoying our lovely home. Just wish our builder fix everything and the trucks next door would hurry up and finish the development so the road and footpath can go and our driveway doesn't get blocked off with trucks!!! It's possible but a soak well is usually much larger. Your 'soak well' only holds 424 litres when full. What is your soil type? Soak wells need sandy soils. 10 9625 Need advice on the backyard plan above. Should I excavate and cut all of the dirt to level with the house slab or semi-excavate as per photo above?
