I hope someone can help!
I am building a house on an elevated block with rear-lane way entry. The sewer inspection point is at the rear of the block and will need a trafficable lid as it will be below my driveway.
HOWEVER, at pre-start, my CA told me they would be putting in a provisional sum for a trafficable lid to be placed in my front FOOTpath, because survey had found a "pipe" there. The pipe is thin and yellow (not sure what it's for.... Could be water/Telstra/gas/electricity, or possibly sewer, even though the sewer invert is marked on my site plan at the rear of the block.
Now for my question! As this "lid" will be in a FOOTpath that will NEVER be subject to vehicular traffic due to the HOUSE being between the lane way at the back and the front footpath and STAIRS leading up to my block.... Why does this "trafficable lid" even need to be there? I know it's only going to cost me $172 (as they have sent me my latest VO with Earthworks cost & this trafficable lid cost on it), it's just I don't want them doing something and charging me for it, if I don't even need it! $172 could be better spent elsewhere! Like on 3 stainless steel, wall mounted light fittings for the front of my house.
Okie dokes. I'm gonna try and get some sleep now
