On a good note, we are just waiting for final sign off after the private certifier is done and we should be able to start in the next few weeks!! Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 112Oct 04, 2011 8:13 pm Hi All, We're wondering if anyone else is building a split level home in The Settlement and what kind of stairs/steps you are putting inside? ie. MDF, concrete, brick? We have a drop of 1 metre from the front of our house to the back so we will need to have 5 steps going down from the end entry hall into the main living/kitchen area. We're not sure what options are available to cover MDF stairs. We will be having hard flooring in the area where they will be going so carpet isn't really an option for us. If anyone has any pics we could have a squizzy at for some ideas that'd be great. Cheers, Kylie & Michael Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 113Oct 04, 2011 10:01 pm We plan to have a split up into the living area which I believe will be concrete. I think we will be putting in floor tiles so concrete will be best for us. Is your hard floor timber or tiles? What has Fmont quoted you for in regard to the stairs (MDF, concrete or brick)? https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 114Oct 06, 2011 8:31 pm Hey all, I was wondering if I was able to ask a question... In order to get a fence between properties, do you need council approval/permission?? (pleeeeaaaassseee say no....I dont want to go through them again hehe) Thank you Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 115Oct 07, 2011 8:28 am we havent moved in yet and the millipedes are already driving me nuts!!! for those already moved in.....have you done anything to reduce the numbers??? Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 116Oct 07, 2011 1:55 pm Ive noticed that too wildorchid! All over the gyprock and just everywhere! I asked someone and they said they use surface spray and that keeps them under control. Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 117Oct 07, 2011 3:45 pm i was hoping they wouldnt come up to the house after concrete/established garden.....but the neighbours are still covered in them too! before we decided on dechellis, we knocked on another dechellis house to ask how she found them (before i descovered this forum), she was nice enough to let us in and show us her house, this is in stage 2 and she even had millipedes inside! eeeggggghhhhh......i hope they go away once everyone has finished building! Re: Building at Golden Grove - The Settlement 119Oct 19, 2011 1:49 pm hi kim! welcome what stage is you land in? Hi dreamcometrue, Fairmont originally quoted us a little over 12 grand for the split with 2 lots of stairs. One set going from the entry into the dining/kitchen/living area and the other set going from the internal garage door into the same area. It now turns out that the stairs going from the garage door can't be done because of ceiling level. They didn't specify how much the stairs were costing in the quote but we have been given a $1000 credit now that the garage stairs have been taken out. The stairs will be made of MDF. Hindsight is a wonderful thing...Wish now that we'd got concrete stairs and been confident with whatever floor covering we chose. We're guessing MDF will limit our choices a bit now. Oh well, you build and learn! Just out of curiosity, what were you quoted for your concrete stairs? Michael & Kylie Hello, We are about to build and the plans show a part of the exterior wall is being built on top of a limestone retaining wall. Does this mean the retaining wall will… 0 22298 Hi there - I'm not sure if you're still active on this forum but I'm from ABC News and am trying to find people in Victoria who have had… 5 30075 |
