Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building in Saltwater Coast - Point cook 163Mar 30, 2011 3:23 pm selvasha ultraman Selvasha, I have been previously quoted by an builder for $22k site cost. That builder suppose value for money has lower base prices compare to other builder but they will quote ridiculous site cost to makeup the difference. I went with another builder that quoted me only $5K for site cost as I dont like to choose a builder that is dishonest with site cost... and probably may give more excuse to charge more.. etc.. Hei U-Man, So many unknown things come up during the whole process, to go around and shop for the best may be the right thing to do but are we all able to do that? hmmmmm U r lucky u decided to back out by then...for us..naaaaaa.. just hope it stops here and nothing more...as i m not willing to give anymore good luck to us!!! Hey Selvasha -- we were originally using one of the big builders (see my earlier posts) and they were talking in the vicinity of $20K ... we ended up choosing a small builder and it was less than $5k ... Re: Building in Saltwater Coast - Point cook 164Mar 30, 2011 3:25 pm ultraman Congrats RupS & Leanne.. Welcome to the SWC, neighbours!..BTW what is builder stage.. and is Stage 16 behind the display homes.. Stage 10 is in behind the display homes ... that is where we are! Re: Building in Saltwater Coast - Point cook 165Apr 01, 2011 12:58 pm Hi Shelljoy That's really exciting - we saw a few weeks ago that they'd started clearing the site. Ours is coming along well too - we're in the final stage ebfore handover but not sure what's happened this week.We live in kew so we only tend to go down on the weekends to see the progress. We'll be down there tomorrow afternoon - around 1 if you're in the area - be good to finally meet! Re: Building in Saltwater Coast - Point cook 166Apr 05, 2011 1:45 pm Hi All, Good to see a Saltwater Community even before we have moved to the area. BTW I have bought in Saltwater on Mystic Grove and would like to know about the area from the site cost point of view. I am looking at double storey houses and so far I like Porter Davis.... any suggestions Thanks Sam Re: Building in Saltwater Coast - Point cook 167Apr 05, 2011 1:57 pm SamSingh Hi All, Good to see a Saltwater Community even before we have moved to the area. We have bought on Mystic as well and are building with PD. Our preliminary soil test (which we were shown at tender) showed our land was ok, but a bit damp and required a piered slab (not sure what the slab class was) and step-down concrete for the Alfresco and portico (which is not normally included). Although, the report was done in mid-Feb, just after those crazy rains, so not sure if that played a part. Not sure what the site costs specifics are as they are all included. What lot did you buy? Are you expecting title by June this year? I guess this should apply to every builder. I think it is annoying how some builders even so they have the information and the time to determine an accurate site cost, yet they hesitate in releasing the information to the customer until contract day when you are emotionally attached to the home. I have just changed jobs, and this is the first chance I have had to log into the site. We probably only jsut missed you, too. We did meet one of the neighbours from down the street, though - actually, we met their kids who were playing on the swings. We have just had our roof tiles delivered, and our brickies are booked in for the end of next week. You must just about be counting down the days now. Any idea when your handover is yet? cheers Shellie Re: Building in Saltwater Coast - Point cook 174Apr 19, 2011 7:38 am Hi Shellie Shame to have missed you - sure we will bump into each other before too long. Yes, we met them last week as well but had met at the saltwater family day last year. Your house is flying up - you must be really happy. We don't have a formal date but met with our site supervisor on Friday and he's hoping that we can have the place in the last week of May.We're doing floors etc ex Simonds so will have to have that go in as well first so we're hoping to be moving in around the start of June all going to plan. Getting very excting now See you soon Shells Building in Saltwater Coast - Point cook 175May 11, 2011 9:30 pm Hi everyone, Been a while since there's been any activity on here... Hope everyone is well. We've popped into the estate about once a week for the last month to see how things have been going and it's looking great! The Lifestyle Centre is developing in leaps and bounds which is awesome, and the entry lakes and boardwalks look great as well. Apparently the construction for stages 7 & 8 are pretty much complete (if I remember correctly), and will title shortly, meaning that crew will join the team over at stage 16 to get that complete by the end of the financial year - which we hope happens because that's where our block is!! Also looks like construction of Saltwater Promenade at Point Cook Rd has started too... Anyone else got any news? Re: Building in Saltwater Coast - Point cook 176May 11, 2011 10:39 pm We've just signed up to build with Carlisle in Dune Street (which was the Boardwalk Release that titled almost 12 months ago!). Probably won't be starting until September, just going through the fun/painful process of picking everything that will go in the house now! Building in Saltwater Coast - Point cook 177May 20, 2011 7:39 am Got a letter from our solicitor yesterday - land settlement delayed until August, due to inclement weather in February. Oh well, pushes things back about a month (which we kind of thought would be the case as we drop into the estate about once a week, and we thought June was quite ambitious - pics on our blog). Re: Building in Saltwater Coast - Point cook 178May 23, 2011 5:14 pm We're in stage 7 which titled 2 weeks ago and we settled on Friday last week Can't wait to get the building started. We've set up a blog to share our progress at: http://chateau-belsey.blogspot.com/ ___________ Building a Newington 40 with Carlisle Homes in stage 7 of Saltwater Coast Point Cook Follow our progress Re: Building in Saltwater Coast - Point cook 179May 29, 2011 8:55 am Hi all, Just stumbled across this site, fantastic to find it.
