How many sqm? My research shows should be $75-$85 per sqm for a steciled / stamped driveway. Who are you using? I also have to make a decision on driveway contractor soon. Mine is approx 90sqm and I also have a drain to put in the middle of it. We have a driveway that has a steep gradient, so we have a grate drain between drive and garage. Please do let us know when you decide who to go with.... I am really struggling to get tradies to come out and quote. They are all so busy or just dont bother returning calls. I have not decided as yet, will get more quotes. Wont be using this guy for sure! He was referred by another guy, didnt even bother writing it down, verbal quote only. Not sure on the size, the guy measured it up but didnt confirm . Where you have a driveway sloping down torward the garage, then it is normal to have a grated drain across the driveway to collect any stormwater. I am also this week going to confirm a timber floor supplier. The short list is either Concord Timber or Northern Rivers Timbers. The quote from absolutestyle was cheaper but since he stated you do not need the water proofing which contradicts the Australian Timber Association standard practice for the installation then I will not use him. For a few hundreds dollars I want the extra prtection. Quote from the Timber Association: "As an added protection against moisture from the slab (from slab edge effects, beam thickening etc) or minor building leaks a 0.2 mm thick polyethylene membrane is recommended. An applied moisture vapour barrier over the slab may also be used to protect against possible slab moisture. The polyethylene should be lapped by 200 mm, taped at the joints and brought up the walls (or fixed columns etc) above the intended top surface of the flooring. The polyethylene is then covered by the skirting. Note that fixings of plywood sub-floors or battens through the polyethylene are not considered to reduce the overall effectiveness of the membrane." On the driveway - yes, we currently have a grated drain on our existing driveway. When we build our new one we will be putting in a new grated drain, pretty much in the same position. We had ours included in our quote with Sentinel as if it is done after handover they need to dig a trench from the house to the boundary. So we decided to have it done prior to handover. The cost from Telstra approx $299 does not include digging the trench they will employ a contractor to do this if you want at a cost per metre. I have just gone through this process on another property. I ended up digging the trench myself then Telstra organised their contractor to lay the cable then I covered the trench up. That cost me the $299 from Telstra. Hope this helps. On our building progress it has slowed up because of painting issues on the exterior and Airconditioning fitment issues. Painting should be now sorted continuing with aircon issues on the fitment. He didnt mention any other fees which is bad as I did inform him that its a Knock down re-build and asked about the fees. He said we have to decide if we want overhead or underground cable. Ours will be underground as we included the cabling through Beemans Communications (paid $443.)through M. I will let you know what the outcome is once its up and running. . SO HAPPY TO REPORT THAT I HAVE JUST SIGNED OFF ON PCI! They still have to render and paint externally - but should all be done by handover. Have put a few not too exciting pics on my thread. Will follow up with handover pics next week once floors are in.
