This is the first time I've posted here since November last year; we had serious issues with our first conveyancer and the less said about that the better.
Since then we've been through a whole bunch of stuff and we're now on the verge of signing our final contract.
My question is for anyone who's aware of building regulations and how they apply to the building of new homes.
In our standard HIA contract that has been supplied to us to read before our contract signing, Clause 11.0 under "Main Obligations of the Parties" says that:
My question is: does this mean that the structure, once completed, must conform to the Australian Standards (e.g. A.S.3700-2001 Masonry Structures), the Building Code of Australia and so on?
What I'm really getting at is that if we hire an independent building inspector and he or she tells us that there is a particular problem with the house because it doesn't meet <insert regulation here>, what recourse do we have with our builder to say "go fix it"?
