Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Issues with the House build (bricklaying job) 2Feb 27, 2022 10:35 am Hey DGavri Welcome to the forum Pity you didn't get it properly inspected The main issue I see is they used additional aerating additive in the mortar mix to hasten the bricklaying Unfortunately that decreases the mortar strength Long term that creates durability issues, worse case is at some point you will need to repoint the joints OT, With the shortage of quality trades shortcuts and defects are common Cheers Chris Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Issues with the House build (bricklaying job) 3Feb 27, 2022 11:20 am StructuralBIMGuy Hey DGavri Welcome to the forum Pity you didn't get it properly inspected The main issue I see is they used additional aerating additive in the mortar mix to hasten the bricklaying Unfortunately that decreases the mortar strength Long term that creates durability issues, worse case is at some point you will need to repoint the joints OT, With the shortage of quality trades shortcuts and defects are common Cheers Chris Hello Chris, Thanks for the tips.
