Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 14, 2020 2:17 pm Hi All, my builder has presented a building contract to me (the owner) to build my new home in QLD. The building contract is a HIA contract. Does anyone have a copy (or link) to the standard HIA contract template? I want to cross reference this to check if my builder has made any alterations to the wording of the contract in comparison to the standard contract. Also consider the HIA contract template is very un-balanced. It's carefully drafted to protect the builder financially by transferring all risk like poor workmanship and errors to you. I recommend you read every clause and definition in the contract that your builder has provided and make sure you understand the implications for you in terms of quality, time and money. When the health situation and economy recovers I suggest consumers refuse to accept the builders HIA contracts and demand a fairer deal. I agree with Norfolk, it is an incredibly unfair and biased contract. Re: Standard HIA Building Contract - Copy of template 5Mar 16, 2020 1:56 pm What are the alternatives to the HIA contract ?
