Outrageous water bill whilst building - Porter Davis

So I received my water bill from our build today - and at over $4500 for 2 months, so say I almost had a heart attack is an understatement!

My SS is currently on a work conference and I haven't been able to get hold of my BC. I have sent both a text message and also emailed them through a copy of the bill.

We did have a water leak issue, but I had no idea it was that bad.

Surely I am no liable for such a stupid amount. Has anyone had to deal with this before? Plan and simple, I don't have the money to pay it. We are probably only 4-6 weeks away from completion as well.

Your contract should state that any bill over $100 of usage will be paid for by Porter Davis.

The bigger concerb is identifying the cause of the leak. Once you've taken handover you'll be liable.

Before we knocked down our place we had a leak. we left it till after the knockdown to see if it would resolve the issue and fortunately it did.

Leak is fixed. I have been taking photos of the water meter as well and it’s not moving. It was a significant amount of water however so looking into it with south east water.

Speaking with our SS and it seems like they wouldn’t be making us pay - even they acknowledge that’s out of control.

I suggest you have the leak properly investigated that amount of water will have a detrimental effect
on your foundations
