Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Stairs question - variation for removing tread nosings 2Sep 06, 2018 2:19 pm nada17 Hi guys, I am building with Kurmond Homes. Almost at the lock-up stage. I was just going through all of the variations they gave us and noticed that I have a variation for "upgrade to staircase - remove nosing to treads to allow for clients timber laminate to be laid after handover". I don't really understand how it works and why they gave us this variation. Is here anyone familiar with stair construction? We had carpet on stairs in our initial design and decided to do timber flooring after handover. Why would they bill us for removing something if they could simply not install it at the first place? aren't they already saving money by not installing nosing? Or is nosing just part of the a tread and with this variation we will get a different type of treads which are more expensive (which I would think is the other way around as a tread with nosing would need more time and material to produce). I am not sure how that works and therefore would love someone to comment on that. Thank you! Hi, Building with a different builder but can confirm that when we initially wanted timber laminate on the stairs it was a variation of about $400 from the stair company to remove the nosing and then the extra cost of the timber laminate nosing added on top of that. Not sure why it works like that but can confirm that it was the same for us from a different builder. Cheers. I work with owner, he/she is my man on the ground and I instruct them when to visit the site and take photos and I have other tools in the bag. 4 15258 Looking for advice on whether this variation in tile colour is acceptable. The large tile on the left was used in my main bathroom renovation 1 year ago. My ensuite… 0 8488 yes it does, you've just not understood it. theres a difference. 4 5321 |
