We found the selection at De lorenzo a bit disappointing and very expensive. We're building the Majestic 35 and Wisdom gave us a credit of $4600. We have exceeded our budget so not upgrading to porcelain tiles..but want to know if ceramic tiles would be good or the laminated floorboards. Also for kitchen cabinetry..is the standard laminate that is part of luxury inclusions good and durable?? Will it be heat resistant? We exceeded our budget too, so we ended up choosing a ceramic tile from the builder’s range. We did get a quote for timber look tiles, (Casa Dolce Casa)... and it was 13k for 80sqm. HAHA I’ve seen photos of the included laminate flooring from other members photos and I agree, they look amazing! However the main reason we decided not to get laminate is because Di Lorenzo told us that Wisdom no longer allows the skirting to be removed for flooring installation and that scotia had to be used throughout. Apparently they changed the rules on the day of our tiling appointment. Oh well, husband said to just get the standard and if we hate it, we can change it after handover. As for kitchen, I was told by Knebel that the standard is any colour that is “Matt” so finegrain and ravine finish would be an upgrade (this is for polytec, I didn’t look at any Laminex) Good luck with your selections! It seriously stressed me out because I tried to wing it and that was terrible idea! Hi champs2018, No it's costing us $4650 to have the tiles laid including under the stairs and then the tiles on top of that. The tiles were $35 sqm and we needed 100 sqm plus delivery. So we have ended up $3500 out of pocket but much more affordable than the 9k from De Lorenzo. The tiler we're using actually used to work for wisdom and we have paid a deposit to lock him in and have first priority once we have handover. We've just been keeping him up to date with the build progress so that we can get it done straight away. I would suggest taking your floor plan to a few tiles places and get them to quote you on something you like. We ordered our tiles from Belle Tiles in Narellan and they are storing them for us until the build is finished. Check out Rocchet house photos, as their flooring is from the builder’s range and it looks nice and neat to me. We were credited $4600 for a Majestic 35 We're doing a built in media unit with Wisdom in our leisure area 3.5m long cost 3k. We opted for just cupboards with the 2 centre doors having a glass panel. If we had put in draws it would have increased the price a lot We just told our kitchen consultant we had 3k for the media unit and she made one work to our budget. We also added the pantry doors in lamiwood (Nuance Finish) $1240 panelling is very expensive so we're going to paint the wall were the pantry doors are in a colour to match the lamiwood. hope this helps Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 10692May 07, 2018 9:32 pm alce4463 Hey KatDS, Yes you can do living area tiles after handover. In regards to the media unit, is it discussed during Kitchen appointment or with the colours team? So it is just tiles that you will have to outsource later on? Thank you again. Hi KatDS, Yes we're just doing the living area tiles after handover. Yes the media unit is done at kitchen appointment. We also added a bulk head ($350) to our leisure area where the media unit is to complete the look and flow from the kitchen. That was done with CSR You can always have them quote you on one and decide when the pricing comes in Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 10694May 07, 2018 11:37 pm KatDS champs2018 twolittlepeas
Hi All, Need help deciding on tiles and cabinetry . Suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you!
Generally, it’s cheaper to upgrade than replace something after the build, so your pantry door for example, probably cheaper to get Wisdom to do it exactly how you want it than to get the standard and replace it, unless there isn’t a pantry door included with your home. Same with the bulkhead. Hope that makes sense Leaving out the flooring I think will save you money, as they will credit this. Although we haven’t built before so can’t compare DL to other tile companies, their prices seemed inflated to me. Also we got left the leftover tiles and wow some of their quantities were way off, one of our mosaic tiles they had 9 sheets leftover at $30 per sheet, they wouldn’t have used much more than that for the job. There’s so much to do after the build though it will be a bit of a pain to be waiting on flooring too. Have you looked at IKEA’s range of media cabinetry? They do floating units with glass tops and then floating cupboards with glass doors, they look really good. Building Monte Carlo 40- Wisdom homes Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 10695May 07, 2018 11:40 pm In saying that doing your doors with Timpelle won’t be cheaper, as they don’t credit what you take away. Wisdom might but it won’t be much for leaving out a bulkhead and door. Worth asking though.. They've started laying mine today just want to see more pics of the final product What is your mortar color? Do you mind to post photos if you have any? However, I found the brick in these photos of a display house (not Wisdom Homes) is also PGH Truffle if it helps. But I remind you, the brick looks very different with different mortar color. I have visited one house of Truffle brick with Off White mortar which looks a bit brownish from distance. We have chosen 2 builders (1 is Wisdom) for our KDRB are waiting Tender Presentation. Just wondering how long it has taken everyone to get to Tender Presentation and what timing to expect post the Presentation if we choose to sign a contract with Wisdom. We paid our deposit back in January and still awaiting our Presentation. It super frustrating and we are now doubting Wisdom and their ability to keep to timeframes. Meanwhile the 2nd builder we have brought off the backbench and they are preparing a Tender Presentation as we speak within 3 weeks - and we already have a date set. Thanks!
