Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Wincrest Homes in Adminstration 202Mar 05, 2009 10:34 am Has anyone heard anything from Wincrest yet? They have not responded to my emails. I know it's early days, but it's the least that they can do, considering we've put up with many weeks of total drama & confusion.
The only way I see them come out of this in better shape, is if they appreciate us the homeowners with respect that we deserve, excellent customer service & care, quality workmanship and better management of their finance. Anything less than this ... Re: Wincrest Homes in Adminstration 203Mar 05, 2009 10:52 am Judie, SS = Site Supervisor, isn't it? You're very lucky to have a supervisor who's been giving you updates once in awhile. Since we started building in Sept last year, NOT ONCE had we been given a single call by our SS. It's always us chasing them up. Wincrest 204Mar 05, 2009 4:45 pm I hear that one of the major network curent affairs shows are sniffing around this issue. Investigating their operating plus also a sideline of the potential collapse vs the FHOG/stimulus packages that are being paid by govt's. Sounding very very ugly
By who's onboard and the level of detail it could be a case of 'out of the frying pan and into the fire' Re: Wincrest Homes in Adminstration 206Mar 06, 2009 6:43 am Peregrine Has anyone heard anything from Wincrest yet? The only way I see them come out of this in better shape, is if they appreciate us the homeowners with respect that we deserve, excellent customer service & care, quality workmanship and better management of their finance. Anything less than this ... Yes, I got a call from Wincrest last afternoon. It was the same person whome i last spoke on the 29th. Well, they wanted to know. where we were standing. (I mean, if we are going to build with them or not) I was concerned on the three things below and i did like to know, if i would be able to get any help or advice on this. 1) After the construction of our house, if we probably experience some expensive repairs and maintenance, would Wincrest cover it? Our understanding is, Home Warranty Insurance by VERO provided by wincrest covers for a period of 6 years for structural defects and 2 years for non-structural defects from the date of completion of the work. Is this correct? 2) On the above mentioned point , What happens if Wincrest goes into liquidation before the end of 8 year warranty period ? 3) What is the assurance of the quality of work being carried out? Our concern, is if Wincrest would deviate from industry standards to maximise profit (interms of quality of product and manpower). I understand from the DOCA that, Its a big pressure on the company to give out 4.7 mil in 3 years time along with other financial owing like auditors money etc.. Are my concerns valid? .. I am to engage professional service (for Point 3), if anyone is offering.. would enyone know this? Signed and handed over deposit to Wincrest homes on 26th. Re: Wincrest Homes in Adminstration 207Mar 06, 2009 7:31 am Ozyind. the 2 and 6 year warranties run concurrently. ie; the non structural ends after 2 years and the structural ends after 6.
If the warranty is needed in those 6 years, the insurance company requires the builder to rectify, If the Builder refuses or is bankrupt or dead, the insurance company pays for the repair and chases the licence holder (builder) till he is either bankrupt or dead. The assurance of Quality is no different now than it was before the administration . Just about every Project home builder uses the same material suppliers, and most use the same group of trades, as they roam from one builder to another to keep a constant flow of work. If the builder tried to cut costs by lowering the trade rates, the trades would walk away and find a better deal elsewhere. The final quality control is the Dept of fair trading, as all licencing is done them and all complaints that are not dealt with by the builder can also go thru DFT. Hope this help. Re: Wincrest Homes in Adminstration 208Mar 06, 2009 9:31 am Hi Ozyind
I can answer one of your questions if that's any help. Home Warranty insurance only covers you if the builder becomes insolvent, dies or disappears (unless you live in QLD). So if Wincrest is still trading they are responsible for any repairs, you can't claim them through your insurance. If Wincrest refuse to do any of the repair work then you have to take them to court. It would be the same no matter which builder you build with. If Wincrest go into liquidation before the end of the 8 year period then the house in covered by the insurance. If you have already started building with Wincrest it may be difficult to get another builder to finish the work, they can be hesistant about taking on another builders work and I'm not sure where you would stand in terms of contracts if the builder is still viable. If you haven't started building yet, it may be worthwhile thinking about another builder, but not sure what the cost implications are to you at this stage. May be worth getting some legal advice before you commit to anything further. Re: Wincrest Homes in Adminstration 211Mar 09, 2009 8:05 pm I have been in touch with Wincrest and word is wincrest r finalising condition with Builders, roof tilers, frame people etc tomorrow and then a meeting with the other tradies on Wednesday if all goes well work should be commencing very soon Re: Wincrest Homes in Adminstration 213Mar 10, 2009 11:21 am well we are out! trying to see if they will agree to refund us our $$ but not holding our breath. good luck to everyone who is continuing on (by choice or otherwise).
L Re: Wincrest Homes in Adminstration 214Mar 10, 2009 1:19 pm Our SS is R D*v*s and he also contacted us last week about the status. We are grateful to have him as our SS. The one before (JH) is hell.
Just want to ask everyone a question: we are not having our flooring done with Wincrest but they have already installed the skirting boards. Is this wrong and can we ask them to remove them and re-instal them after we get our flooring? They didn't contact us before putting in the skirting boards. Re: Wincrest Homes in Adminstration 216Mar 11, 2009 10:20 am I've just received (via email) the official letter about Wincrest continuing to trade. Time to post the progress payment. Let's hope everyone's build gets back on track quickly.

Re: Wincrest Homes in Adminstration 220Apr 18, 2009 10:13 pm Yoohoo .. !!! I wonder if anyone is still following these postings.
