We have had the same awesome SS the whole build and I can't speak highly enough of him. We are looking at coming in 4 months under contract. Plumber here today also said how lucky we are with our SS. I have a friend building with Rawson and she has been frustrated with her build so it's not just masterton. http://preludehome.tumblr.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 14124Sep 12, 2017 2:03 pm So this happened ... Moving with three small kids has been super stressful, and me wanting everything to run like clockwork five minutes after we are in has been just ridiculous. Suffice to say ... we've all done a bit of compromise this week. We were lucky to line up our driveway pour and shutter install the first week we had keys (both done by us 'after handover'). I've heard MJH give a hamper and that Clarendon give a hamper, tool chest and gardening tools. Someone else mentioned they received a coffee machine. We got nothing, zip, zilch. Just wondering if anyone else did receive something for putting up with their crap for the whole build. I figured that our SS was/is just getting himself a nice collection by not handing them over! haha! As much as I was peeved not to receive anything, I also figured in the overall scheme of things, the towels were probably only worth $20 so it wasn't worth being too concerned about. We use huge towels so I doubt we'd even use them unless it was to hide some of their crap work. Pommie the ss is critical to the build you get no continuity when they keep leaving...if I had my time again I'd go to a custom build. Yes some are better than others and Sydney builders are struggling but our neighbour went with Xenith and they were great. I wouldn't stick with Masterton... I haven't had a chance to take many new pics of landscaping but the best thing is when you start to make lovely memories in these homes that we stress about and shed lots of tears for. In the end it was worth the wait but just wish we chose someone else to build our home Finally did our second guest room and our living room is full of toys but very worth it! Our house has sat with no trades for 2 months and now another month. Ss is critical to your build. For us to be in the 9th month of construction and not even have lock up completed is atrocious. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 14135Sep 13, 2017 9:47 am Good thing is we survived the stress to see our new home My neighbour started a KDR I found out he passed away last week. KDR. You're not missing out on much. They did at least try to colour match to our selections hehe Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 14138Sep 14, 2017 8:55 am Possible KDRB - We've just completed our KDRB on a single story home (Harmony Elite). The base price for our house was around $247,000 when we signed our Tender and we've spent $380,000. The biggest expenses for us were site costs (which were specific to us as we built a dual occupancy) and our Council Requirements were also pricey (BASIX and BAL rated). However in regards to M upgrades, our splurges were to upgrade the air con ($7000) and I chose tiles in our wet areas over and above the allowance ($8815). With a KDRB you'll have the added cost of demolition. We are out of Sydney, ours cost $11,000. We also had some site prep and retaining walls to be built once old house knocked down. On top of demolition, retaining and cost of new build you'll have after handover stuff like driveways, landscaping, window coverings etc. We are doing all that now ... costs keep adding up. CathyP - We built out of Sydney so our tiles were supplied by Tile Direct. I found they had a great selection. If there is a tile from Beaumont Tiles that you love, you could request a refund of that area and do it yourself after handover? Or see if Dons/Tile Direct can order it in for you? We found Tile Direct really helpful.
