Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 15075Jun 23, 2017 4:48 pm So it kinda feels like we didn't make much progress this week unfortunately. We are still waiting on developer approval, we had to do a PCV for some changes that needed to be made to the front of the house and annoyingly the prices on this is higher now than when we discussed it with our previous BC. Unfortunately the previous BC only gave us the prices over the phone as they were in the process of leaving PD and were presumably pretty busy, so now in our discussions with the new BC I could only say what we were told verbally and didn't have anything in writing to hold PD to, which means we didn't really have much of a leg to stand on and have to pay the extra costs. It's not a big difference (only a couple hundred dollars) but it's annoying given that we were told something different. I don't blame my new BC for the changes cause it's not their fault, but it's not our fault either as I'd asked to be emailed the confirmation of the previous prices and this wasn't done, and our original BC has now left PD so we can't do much about it. At least it's not a massive amount of money so it's just an annoyance rather than some sort of massive new cost. Hopefully everyone else has seen a bit more progress? Building a Kew 28 with Porter Davis Re: Porter Davis homes 15076Jun 23, 2017 4:58 pm Danniellejayde Yes we spoke on instagram! My account name is creating_ourhome haha so lame! We got approved to change our flooring our bc is actually quite relaxed when it comes to change but she said this is the last one. I'm not having trouble finding colours I like it's the texture like you said. We want something more rustic and grainy. If we change the flooring to what I want it's going to be $4500 on top of our already $13k variation we have the pay out of our own pocket. oh yes!! wow thats amazing you were able to this late in the process. Its a huge decision so im glad you will be able to decide. The texture of the displays we saw at WOS all were very flat so in a large space just didnt have any wow factor and too me looked quite cheap. is this the engineered oak your looking at now then? i remember that being similar to a quote we got. what!! 13K for what? our floors all up cost under 6k installed external. Can you perhaps look into getting a credit back and investing outside giving you a much broader range, no doubt a hell of alot cheaper Re: Porter Davis homes 15077Jun 23, 2017 5:11 pm The ones were looking to upgrade to have a lot more texture so hopefully we both love it enough to pay the extra! We got our flooring package for $4000 so if we do upgrade it will around $8500 not to bad. But it's only going up to a cat 2 laminate! We're not able to get the flooring credited because we've been transferred to construction. I thought u meant 13k already plus extra to upgrade. Thats like real timber floor prices . They really do rip u its disgusting. Its funny that exact colour looks identical to the range we have just the shade lighter. At the end of the day if you dont go with what u want ull be forever dissapointed. Your floor is everything Re: Porter Davis homes 15079Jun 23, 2017 5:48 pm Sorry I didn't explain properly! $13k variation break down $3000 fixed price grantee (land took an extra 6 months to title) $9000 BAL rating changed from 12.5 to 19. Behind our back fence is all farm land so it's nice and peaceful well worth the extra. Then if we were to upgrade the floors it would be another $4500 on top. I'm spewing we didn't just leave out the floor from the start. We thought about it before leaving our deposit but just found it more convenient and easier to include it in the quote I guess we forgot about doing it ourselves till now. I was pregnant during our colour appointment so everything changed once bub was born. Re: Porter Davis homes 15080Jun 26, 2017 3:56 pm Hi. I just had my second quotation for a PD house for a Newhaven 22 home design. I want to know your thoughts about these prices: Fixed Site Costs: 23,000 - I learned that it can go lower depending on the lot but also higher Guaranteed Fixed Price: 2,000 - title will be released by 2Q of 2018. So from February 2018, they are adding 500 a month until August. It was initially 3,500 but was lowered to 2,000 after convincing Bushfire costs- 4,800 - I was told that this can be excluded once the area is more developed. And are the flooring for Category 1 of any good? I think I am going over the budget if I upgrade for some more. Thank you.
