Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Mojo Homes 563Oct 31, 2016 7:47 pm Filler wont get mouldy unless you leave it filthy for months. Do you clean your floors? I do.. Personally i find scotia to be hideous and interferes with furniture (bookshelves) that you want to put up against a wall. Skirting over floor finishes every time. Other than carpet. The purpose of the skirting is to protect the wall, dress the edge and hide those cuts and allow for expansion within the floor. Leave the skirting off i say. Bit silly some of these things that go on in residential. Your house is finished heres your skirting boards.. do they supply the paint nails and bog that they quoted for? Already saving on labour. Mojo Homes 565Oct 31, 2016 8:07 pm Interesting, we have friends thats own a flooring company so are getting them to do the floor at handover for a good price...we are doing vinyl planks so i guess we will need to get the skirting done ourselves, what a pain wasnt aware that it was alot of work haha..
On a separate note, what is everyone doing for their stairs? Is anyone doing them themselves after handover? I was planning on just getting the plain mdf stair with a square edge and getting nice timber treads put on and probably a smaller version of the grandstair case so it fits in the enigma 36. Re: Mojo Homes 566Oct 31, 2016 8:13 pm I forgot to write with the stairs since im doing them myself, what do they do with the baulistrade etc? Do they also not install that so i can put my nice timber treads in? Re: Mojo Homes 568Oct 31, 2016 8:26 pm Hi Newyhouse I'm surprised that it would be worthwhile to replace the stairs after handover. The luxury of a new home is not having to do it yourself! I don't even want to do floor skirting! Is the saving that much to make it worthwhile rather than having MJ complete it? I plan on sticking with standard stairs. Not enough stuff ace in my 34 for grand stairs IMO. I think standard balustrade/ rails are pretty good and money better spent elsewhere like a pool! Re: Mojo Homes 569Oct 31, 2016 8:39 pm jay30 Sorry i think u have ask me what stairs mine was?its just the standard. Hey yep was just wondering what everyone got. Are you just getting the standard mdf carpet ready staircase, are you getting them to put carpet on etc? The sales lady told me it was around 12g for the staircase or 15g for the grand. Dont really want to spend that much on either and i dont even know what the 12g gives you. Hey you have a point and i want to avoid as much as possible but i really dont want to spend 12g on the stairs. What i mean is not actually replacing the stairs rather, putting stained timber treads over the original mdf treads and painting the fronts white (if that makes sense, not an actual whole nee staircase) What are you getting on the stairs? Is it just the mdf finish? Did you have to pay the 12g? Re: Mojo Homes 571Oct 31, 2016 9:14 pm jay30 Sorry i think u have ask me what stairs mine was?its just the standard. Jay30 I saw the pics you posted of your house its looking amazing, can i ask what stairs you got and how much they where extra if anything?! Re: Mojo Homes 574Oct 31, 2016 9:25 pm jay30 That was the standard, there was no charge?it Seems like theres alot more option atm then back then when i paid my deposit. Yes i think i have confused myself with the whole stair issue. Your stairs are great! and if they are the standard i will be very happy as i can just stain and paint them myself. Jay are you doing the enigma? Re: Mojo Homes 576Oct 31, 2016 10:05 pm Hi Newyhouse, Think I misunderstood. I thought you were going to redo the whole stairwell, rails frame treads and all. Just going over top of treads sounds good to give it a lift. I would like timber treads but didn't see the value as you have said, $12k. My stairs will be like Jay30. MDF treads with carpet, stainless steel shafts to a stained or painted wood balustrade. That's standard no upgrade for me anyway and I paid initial deposit last week. Re: Mojo Homes 577Oct 31, 2016 10:33 pm genneral stairs in wetherill park are one of their stair manufacturers. jump onto their site and you will see an array of options. https://www.genstairs.com.au we were going to do the stairs 100% as per display, my wife had a spill at our rental and fractured her leg. so Timber stairs are out now... with little ones don't want to run the risk. We want same closed riser as jays with a nice dark stain and 2 bottom timber treads. the rest carpet.. Oh and im going to tender! What i am wondering is when they where trying to get you to pay the deposit did they offer you any sweetners/promos/specials ontop of the advertised specials? Hei newwy. I might need to hit you up on your contact for vinyl flooring. I have my heart set on it but the cost was pretty high. Although i did some costings with tiles and its not that mich cheaper. MH quoted me 15k for timber laminate ground floor and 10k carpet up top. They say they are not doing vinyl anymore.. Anywayz. Can you PM me your contact for flooring. Do they do tiles and carpets as well? I would love to get a quote from them Thanks Is anyone building with Mojo and have a recent site cost tender 0 16390 Hi all, We are considering Enigma 46 from Mojo Homes in Gables, NSW.
