We picked different caesar stone bench tops for the kitchen and bathroom. There was a fee for this and masterton said it is because they have to order a different slab of stone to cut the other colour from! Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 9455Jan 31, 2016 3:38 pm Hi Rox82 No you don't get an impression at colour selection, they just sit a few small samples up against each other and you have to try and imagine what a whole house will look like. For bricks, the brick companies will tell you who has built in your preferred brick in your area so you can drive by for a look. For render M may be able to help you with photos of other houses they've built. One tip in selecting external colours, keep an eye on whether they are classified as Light, Medium or Dark. The darker you go the more Basix impact there is - which M don't tell you about when you do your selections. The higher the Basix rating the more cost for you! for us we had to increase our water tank size as 'medium' colours increased our Basix. It had been extended/renovated at least twice before we bought it. The old parts have timber sash windows the newer parts have cheap sliding aluminum. No continuity throughout, hot in summer, cold & drafty in winter. We had a quote of $300k to add an extra bedroom & two bathrooms upstairs. We'd still have an old house. So KDR was the best option for us. You have to install them yourself after handover. We are doing this as we didn't like any of the M appliances Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 9458Jan 31, 2016 4:05 pm [quote="Rox82--"]Help with exterior colours: Our facade is trend with a few altered windows similar to trend 2 and we have decided to render the whole house, detached garage and boat shed. We want the house to look modern and my current thoughts are below: Roof: colorbond monument Main render: surf mist Partial render: monument (maybe around the garage door) Windows: monument Balcony Balustrade: frameless glass Driveway: basalt exposed aggregate with 10% white pebble Outdoor paving: bluestone Primaboard feature: steel city (grey/ duck egg blue color) I'm not sure with these choices what the gutters, downpipes and eaves should be. I was thinking gutters monument to match the roof but downpipes and eaves surf most to match the render. Do they do house impressions at the selections to give you an idea or to play around with? I love the display home below (uses the steel city primaboard) but do not want to use bricks... So the other option is to copy this and replace the brick shown in this with monument render and change my choice to a surfmist roof, gutters, eaves and with parts in a surfmist render... Thoughts? [/quote Have you seen this display home in person? It looks darker in real life I re Kon. Be careful as dark colours will effect your basix. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 9459Jan 31, 2016 4:09 pm MGardz Ok sad to say but the workmanship of stuff done on our place is sub par. Roof is leaking now and eaves are all over the place. Need your help on a good building inspector that m actually listened to and also who within m we escalate complaints. Who is the manager of all the SS and CCs? My husband was not happy one bit this arvo! https://mandgbuildatmulgoarise.wordpress.com/ I'm not in your area so can't help but be careful as a lot of the private inspectors used to be builders and are clicky with other builders and tend to turn a blind eye to some issues. All the reports have disclaimers so if something isn't picked up they absolve themselves of responsibility. This is more prevalent in regional areas. I've been told this by a number of builders Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 9460Jan 31, 2016 5:15 pm Very true Michelle, hopefully someone can recommend one they are happy with https://mandgbuildatmulgoarise.wordpress.com/ 4 25323 Hi all Just starting the journey with Masterton and building the Aston Exclusive.
