A few weeks ago now I met with the site supervisor who advised me that the next step after bricks would be rendering and then electrical pre lays/gutters/roofing. I asked about the lights either side of the garage door (where the render was going) and was told that a guy would cut the channel out and pre lay the wiring prior to the rendering going ahead. This didn't happen..... and I emailed Dale Alcock regarding this and was told it would happen at the next stage with all the other electrical. Strange I thought as this would need the renderer to come and fix up all his work but ok, if thats how it has to be done! So, I went around today to take a look now that the roofing and electrical pre lay have all be done and guess what....... they haven't chased the wiring in under the render...... they have drilled two massive holes through the entire brickwork from the inside to the outside and put in ugly a$$ conduit!!! This is definately not on the plans and the only external conduit marked is for the boundary wall in the garage so I think they simply stuffed up and thought "We will just do it this way.... the client won't kick up a stink"..... TOTALLY INCORRECT It looks bloody terrible!! I have already emailed them today with pictures and said I wasn't happy and they will have to fix it. I also stated that I wouldn't be happy with the resultant ugly patched up holes on the inside of my garage and that they could continue the rendering from outside to include the inside and hide it at their own expense. Do you think this is a reasonable request considering they stuffed up?? This is a picture of my electrical plan for the garage showing the only external conduit being on the right hand boundary wall: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ EPSON004 by Andrew Carroll, on Flickr And this is the conduit they obviously thought we would be happy with!!!! I'm interested in how Dales handle this. Keep us informed! Re: Building the Stoneleigh with Dale Alcock in Tuart Ridge 71Nov 02, 2015 1:04 pm Yeah, when the wiring wasn't chased in prior to rendering a mate told me they would probably just drill a hole.... I dismissed it because I thought no one would be that dumb! I got told my CLO would inform the site sup and Tuesdays is standing meetings between the CLO's and sup's so should find out what they say tomorrow. Re: Building the Stoneleigh with Dale Alcock in Tuart Ridge 73Nov 02, 2015 10:36 pm Well that was fast! Sup was not impressed.... apparently the electrical guys tried to cut corners and now it's cost DA free rendering on the inside of my garage to conceal the holes in the wall! The conduit is already gone!!! Building the Stoneleigh with Dale Alcock in Tuart Ridge 74Nov 02, 2015 10:42 pm Good to hear that Dale's has solved the problem. I was a bit concerned reading about your issue as well, since I am also building with Dales in Baldivis, and have reached the rendering and roof stage, and was hoping that the same thing will not happen to me. Re: Building the Stoneleigh with Dale Alcock in Tuart Ridge 75Nov 02, 2015 11:03 pm Just make sure that they chase in any lights that aren't on a cavity wall prior to the render going on. I honestly think that the electricians stuffed up and tried to short cut it and the site sup jumped on it fast. Still had me wild.... By the way, we have the same sup so you should be right! Re: Building the Stoneleigh with Dale Alcock in Tuart Ridge 77Nov 03, 2015 11:25 am I'm glad you got a good outcome Re: Building the Stoneleigh with Dale Alcock in Tuart Ridge 78Nov 04, 2015 3:36 pm Congrats on the roofing, glad they sorted everything out for you Re: Building the Stoneleigh with Dale Alcock in Tuart Ridge 79Dec 09, 2015 9:57 am Hope everything is going well at yours Hey guys building a new place through a volume builder and just wondering if i should complain to the site supervisor as we just had plasterboard installed. Looks like… 0 11597 Elvis has left the building... The site supervisor quit after 2 month on the project. I guess he was just instructed to bark at people, but didn't like when he was… 26 21331 |
