Browse Forums Building A New House Building with Kurmond Homes 1271Oct 17, 2015 7:30 am Hi big Mama, i had my 1st practical completion yesterday, I gave SS my list, yes there are things to be fixed, but there is nothing major, wrong font door handle, scratches on the kitchen cupboards, the majority is patch and paint work due to trades bumping and marking the walls. Which all things can be fixed, it is annoying that kitchen has so many scratches but as long as it can be fixed... We did tell the SS we will be getting an private certifier as there are things we won't pick up he will, based on all that we should be at handover *xFingers* next 2-2.5 weeks give or take a few days... Driveway booked for end of next week.. The house will be mine eventually lol... Being in a new estate I see a lot houses speed up and slow down there is trade shortage everywhere so it's not just Kurmond with the delays.. My next door neighbour started only 6 weeks after me (5 months ago with a major builder) they are only getting there roof on this week, but my sister is building with that same major builder and she will be at handover end of next month. It all depends on the trades. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1272Oct 18, 2015 9:22 am Hi All New to the forum.. building Glenleigh 38. Thank you all for sharing your experience with Kurmond homes.. Congratulations to those of you nearing the end of the tunnel.. Little bit about my rough ride: Deposit Paid - 17 AUG 2014. Submitted to council- 27 FEB 15 Council Approved- 23 APR 15 Demolished- 23 JUN 15 Construction Commencement Letter- 14 AUG 15 Slab- 14 SEP 15 Frames left on site for weeks and no actions. How long did you guys wait for frames from slab? Any advise. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1275Oct 19, 2015 4:36 pm Aneethas Hi and welcome to the fun. We paid deposit Dec 2013 (yes almost 2 years ago). Council approval took 7 months. From slab to frame was about 2-3 weeks. Our construction has progressed at a good pace and everything was built in under 5 months. It's the internals that are causing us grief with months and months of delays. Ses78 Poor Sessie. You are having a rough time. Sending you positive vibes and wishes for happier times. EK1976 Wow you lucky duck. You must be counting the sleeps. Quach, Loks, Return to shire You guys are all sounding happier now that your homes are progressing along. Best of building luck to all. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1276Oct 19, 2015 6:22 pm Welcome Aneethas We paid our deposit January 2014, took them until October to get the plans right and then Council approval November, Slab went down May and then a couple of weeks to frames. We are at lock up and most of the wet area tiling is complete, painting is pretty much done but needs some touch ups, kitchen cabinetry is in. Hi All Facade Moroka finish was finally done late last week, very little else has happened. No contact from SS, old SS used to ring most Friday afternoons with an update. I'm holding my tongue while work progresses but ........ We all seem to be having similar issues again. EK1976 so excited for you HousesforMouses where are you at? Big Mama hang in there surely can't be too far off Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 1277Oct 20, 2015 5:31 pm Nav12c Are you building with Kurmond or Provincial? You will not benefit from taking a survey report from builder to builder as your tender will only reflect M class slab. You will not get pricing until they take bore samples and hydraulic engineer's report. Then you get hit with variation cost. Ours was unexpected extra $100k! Loks Thanks for thinking about me *sniff* EK1976 Well I suppose you're out shopping for new cushions and such, or packing boxes? Building with Kurmond Homes 1279Oct 20, 2015 6:31 pm Hey loks, looking good so exciting Big mama, how did you go with your practical completion today? We have officially put our current home on the market so bit of both packing and Internet window shopping... Waiting to sell to start the big shopping for the new house hehe...
