Browse Forums Building A New House Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10131Apr 26, 2015 2:02 pm Hi everyone! I'm new I'm still at the planning stage. Taking my time here while they are still bending over backwards trying to get me to give the tender the ok... We are building the Monaco One with a few changes. I've found this is the best time to add and change things as the quotes are coming back very reasonable. We have done our walk through the colour studio and all pricing seamed to be fair. We renovated our last house and know how much things cost. Just remember, not only are you paying for materials sometimes you are also paying for extra labour required etc. I'm trying to get all my selections done before I go to the planning stage so I can include as much as I can in the tender. Question... Can anyone let me know what gas fires they have put in inc size and cost etc please?? Plus, has anyone installed an induction cooktop instead?? Thank you! Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10132Apr 26, 2015 3:00 pm Bronte builders, How many aircon outlets do you have in your house? Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10134Apr 26, 2015 4:39 pm Lot927 I'm so sad for you that your handover experience was so awful. That SS should not be doing that job if that's the way he's going to treat customers. What a disgrace. I really hope they come through for you and fix your issues and especially apologise! JandA Your house is looking awesome! You wouldn't think there was no bricks outside. It looks like they'll be just about finished once the bricks go up. We had handover last week. It was crazy, stressful, insane busy as it came down to the wire with moving out of our other house and getting council certificate and bank payment on time!! I had to do it by myself as my husband had work he couldn't get out of. We paid and got our keys as the removalists were bringing our stuff inside and then the next day the SS went through our paperwork as handover. So thankful that it is finally done. It's 3 years come July since we put our deposit down on our land so it feels surreal to finally be done. We have some water tank issues with electrical connection and dishwasher issues which I'm hoping MJH will fix quickly this week. We should be getting our letterbox built this week too. Then we need to think about landscaping! Here's a pic of the finished kitchen. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 10135Apr 26, 2015 4:51 pm - how are McDonald jones so far So far...Not Impressed at all. The CLO is hopeless. Thought they were a work experienced kid. - if you built again would you choose them or another company? Would go with another company.. or possibly an independent builder. We haven't actually started the build as yet, but after all the hassles we have had, and the disappointment that MCD cannot deliver the house we want is disappointing. We had the plans sentback to them several times, as each version was different to what we decided upon, and each time they would correct one item and amend something else which should not have been touched. We are dreading our Electrical selections, as they appear to be charging like a wounded bull for simple items. We wanted to incorporate a SmartHome system, and they refuse to allow our expert in to do the wiring, saying we need to get it done after handover, which will literally cost us $000's more. They did tell us that they were "Not boutique builders" We will just have to hope that the SS is a commonsense fellow.
