Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with JG King in VIC. PICS!!! 81Dec 23, 2014 2:31 pm Was informed by the building supervisor that due to the new legal requirement, Downpipes need to be a max of 20m apart (from downpipe to downpipe). This means that a downpipe is required on the front of our house. I find Downpipes ugly and found this idea, turning Downpipes into a feature. It's called a chain-drain or a rain-chain. PICS, PICS & TIPS!!! 82Jan 07, 2015 9:39 pm Hi, loving your posts so far.. We will be building with jg king this year once our land has titles. So I'm following along taking lots of mental notes along the way and it's good to see your having a positive experience with them.. So many horror stories out there not a lot of good ones. I plan on attempting to do this myself when we officially get started! Good luck with the rest of your build! Oh and when do they start back?! Re: JG King build. PICS, PICS & TIPS!!! 83Jan 14, 2015 8:34 am Hi Princesssarrah06! Thankyou Jg King have been fantastic so far! Dealing with them (pre-build) was a pleasure. They have been so helpful and understanding for us novice builders lol. The only thing I can fault them on is our building supervisor; who seems to be very old fashioned, has poor communication skills and changes things without our consent (for example he added in Downpipes and then informed us, not the otherway round)... When you build I strongly advise to save your building supervisors number, be VERY observant with your build and updated plans (which are sent out), bring your plans when you have walk-throughs and always contact the company asap if you are not happy about a change. This has saved us so many additional complications and time! :/ ... And I think JG King start back the second week of Jan We were told it depends what stage the house is up to and when the contractor wants to start back. Some will even work through the Christmas period if they have nothing planned. Goodluck and all the best with your build!!! Re: JG King build. PICS, PICS & TIPS!!! 84Jan 23, 2015 10:19 pm Pretty happy that the bricking has been completed, instulation started and heating/aircon installed Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: JG King build. PICS, PICS & TIPS!!! 85Jan 25, 2015 4:47 pm So exciting! The bricks looks great! They are ironstone? They look completely different to the ironstone samples that we got! Good to see the internal pics like that, be better when the plaster goes up thou! How long have they got, are you up to the fit out stage?? I'm not sure of the stages exactly.. We went and saw our display home last week? Omg we loved it more then we expected, we hadn't seen it and we're just hoping that we would like it as much as we did on the plan. We went and saw the sales person and got some more changes to our plan drawn up, but still waiting on land titles which may not be ready till April/May now . Anyway I have been checking your page for updates regularly as I wasn't sure how to get notified of updates Re: JG King build. PICS, PICS & TIPS!!! 86Feb 03, 2015 8:15 am Thanks I love them! They turned out better than I thought they would! Yup the are Ironstone. I agree the samples can be very deceiving!! Ummm im not sure how long we have left, they havent given us an actual date yet :/ But we are estimating that the house should be completed by April (hopefully). Hahaa I'm not sure on the stage names either!! Lol, but I think we are nearly at lockout stage...The next stage is the inside plaster... and then I'm not sure.. That's very exciting! I wish our house plan had a display home. We searched all over Victoria and New South Wales and couldnt find one. It would definitely make the visualisation process easier!!! That's a bummer about your titles, waiting is very hard! Goodluck with the build! Many thanks, Keri & Cass Re: JG King build. PICS, PICS & TIPS!!! 87Feb 03, 2015 8:26 am Looks as though the eves of the house have been completed, plaster has arrived and cement !? House is now locked up, even though we don't have a front door! PICS, PICS & TIPS!!! 88Mar 10, 2015 9:06 pm Hello, how is your build going? Hope things are still going smoothly? Re: JG King build. PICS, PICS & TIPS!!! 89Apr 15, 2015 10:11 am Hi, sorry i havent been on here in a while. The build is going very slowly!! Not happy with JG King at all ! After the paperwork was signed and the build commenced, everything went down hill. Apparently they fired their plasterers, so we had to wait 5weeks+ for new plasters to start... The house supervisor was also very poor with communication and between Dec - end of March he did not contact us or return out calls. We had to basically nag the JG King office, for him to calls us. He ended up retiring and we have a new house supervisor, who seems ALOT better! He is pushing for things to be done and also ordered a site clean up (as our site was disgusting and looked like a bomb had hit it) Not much as happened between my lst post and now. The walls have been put up, the wet areas have been waterproofed, eves completed and the house paint has been prepped. Hopefully the cupboards are installed soon, which leaves the floors and electrical work. The new house supervisor has estimated that we will be in at the end of May if there are no further hold ups Many thanks, Keri & Cass Re: JG King build. PICS, PICS & TIPS!!! 98May 06, 2015 10:27 pm Hi Keri and Cass, Looking good so far! I've been eagerly awaiting new photos. I love the wood grain laminate you have chosen and like how it's been used in the laundry and kitchen. It looks great with the white colour, I like how you have used it as the bench in the laundry and as the cupboards in the kitchen- I'm wondering whether I should steal your idea or just use it as the cupboards I have picked out Amari oak, which is a dark greyish/brown wood grain, with intentions of using in the bathroom/ensuite and laundry. The laundry floor was looking great looks nice and clean (or atleast shiny! I love shiny!) Have the decorative tiles in bathroom/ensuite been grouted yet? I really like them would have them on the shower floor if I could but hubby doesn't like them I reckon they would feel nice to stand on anyway looking forward to seeing the finished result! Re: JG King build. PICS, PICS & TIPS!!! 99May 14, 2015 12:04 pm oh wow look at those little stone feature tiles! They are amazing! Re: JG King build. PICS, PICS & TIPS!!! 100May 20, 2015 1:41 pm Thanks Princesssarrah06! I'm pretty happy with the way the laminate turned out... You can also get textured laninate, which looks and feels very cool I think either of your laminate ideas would look great too! I love shiny too!! Hahaha. No they haven't been grouted yet, were still waiting. Ha I agree, it would almost feel therapdic :p Yea I absouletly love them Bonnie_p Many thanks, Keri & Cass 1 17745 21 42801 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair It looks like they have used rigid sealant in the gap.
