Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 9344Mar 26, 2014 3:55 pm Hi Everyone, An update on our "birds in roof' issue. The last time I had this issue (about 2yrs ago after the hand over) the tile was not fitted correctly between the eave. It was fixed so they said, but it seems like it was a quick fix now!. Porter Davis instead of cutting the tile to fit the area they had replaced it with a black piece of plastic? Sorry I don't know what it is. Over time the plastic has reshaped/moved/opened up and the birds are back. I can hear the birds coming and going from the ceiling and I believe they have caused damaged to our air vents because you can hear them chirping through the vents too now!! Helen, can you pls help me with this on going issue. thank you Waldorf 44 Sales quote: Jan 18th 2011 Tender : Feb 24th 2011 Colour & Electrical: March 9th 2011 Contract: March 24th 2011 Site start: May 5th 2011 http://ourwaldorf44.blogspot.com/ Re: Porter Davis homes 9345Mar 26, 2014 5:25 pm Hi folks, For those that want a closer look at the cornice options available for Prestige homes I have uploaded the selections booklet that PD gave me to my blog... http://bendigowaldorf.blogspot.com/2014 ... tions.html I hope that this helps! I had some moved from what were coming down the front of the house/garage to around the side. There was one though from the Portico roof that still had to go down the front - no where else to go! Re: Porter Davis homes 9354Mar 27, 2014 3:32 pm ondrej09 Serenity_Now ondrej09 Electrician - but I'm getting them to install plug bases for all the downlights that they're either installing or moving for me. That way in the future, if I ever need to change the downlights I won't need to call them back. have you asked if PD can do the plug base versions instead to save time? They probably could as they do install plug bases for items such as exhaust fans, but by the time we realised it was too late /quote] I have same problem with our house and I've sent an email to our BC saying downlights should not be hardwired so that I can replace them if needed. We thought it's early enough to resolve this problem since our house is still at Frame stage. I also mentioned this was never mentioned during our electrical appointment nor did they mention there is an option. Response I got from our BC is that they do not provide such option with downlights and all their houses they harwire the downlight. Looks like there is no solution for me unfortunately though it is very obvious to me that any light for that matter should not be hardwired simply for the reason that they need to be able to replaced if needed. Re: Porter Davis homes 9355Mar 27, 2014 8:21 pm MummaDJ tlblhayward Has anyone had much luck getting downpipes moved? I had some moved from what were coming down the front of the house/garage to around the side. There was one though from the Portico roof that still had to go down the front - no where else to go! Unfortunately we were not allowed to move the downpipe that we wanted to because it was the only one on that part of the guttering. Oh well... no harm in asking! Very exciting been a stressful few days but we are in! PCI went well very minor details that needed to be fixed, painf chips here and there and a scratch in the floor. Day of handover (wed) everything had been fixed. We met the SS on site 8am wed morning and we worked thru the list that we had from oic so he could show us things had been fixed and they had. He said we then needed to head into head office to pick up keys and handover cheque and to just call on the way. Well guess what we got there and we were asked what time out appointment was?? Appointment?? At no stage was it communicated to us that we needed an appointment. Lucky for them a lovely lady was able to go throu everything with us. Since moving in we have found a couple of things not quite rite, the dead bolts on all external doors don't line up. We couldn't have known this earlier as SS doesn't have keys for them, this does concern me from a safety point of view. We had tv point out half way up the wall to mount the tv and after connecting everything the PowerPoint doesn't work. One of the pot draws doesnt have the self closing thing on it. All major IMO we have emailed SS and he is arranging to all have fixed. Now just have to work through the millions of boxes that crowd my beautiful house. I said to my partner last night that it doesn't feel real, our bedroom is so beautiful I feel like I am sleeping in a hotel room. Enjoy everyone Re: Porter Davis homes 9358Mar 28, 2014 9:19 am tlblhayward For those that are interested, I've uploaded our "finalised" (well, our almost set) selections for Hopetoun Interiors to my blog. Re: Porter Davis homes 9360Mar 28, 2014 9:52 am Just popping my head in here... Our land titled yesterday! We are hoping to settle early next week. We've had our finance ready to go for about a month as we have been away and there was a chance that the land would title and therefore we'd need to settle when we were away. It didn't, but it is good for us now as we haven't had any running around to do for finance! PD is in the process of organising our soil test and at this stage we have a site start of early May. After 15 months of waiting, things are finally progressing and we are so excited!!!! Hi there! Putting the feelers out there for those who have (or almost) built with Arli homes!
