Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 501Feb 27, 2014 8:47 pm Fellow Kurmondians, Loving the updates of you all in the build phase. We are just entering the exterior colour selections. Trying to tone down our excitement until we are through the admin part of the build. No problems so far, just a long process with a block of land not being registered for a few months yet. Encouraging to hear your experiences with the site supervisors as well! These updates are giving us plenty of incentive to blaze ahead though Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 504Mar 04, 2014 7:22 am Piering looks exciting! Hi all, we are most likely building with Kurmond. Have sat with P to discuss modifications to the aria 35.7 and it's looking good. Next we hunt the various certificates and info KH need then pay them to start on plans. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 507Mar 06, 2014 9:48 am Good news! Construction certificate was issued this morning. Was a much longer process than I anticipated (5 months since signing contracts and 3 weeks ago it went into the certifier) but we should have movement now! I ended up discussing the situation with our customer service rep yesterday and she pulled through and got it issued today. We are still waiting on colours to finalise the colour pack (had to sign the airconditioning zone layout + some mistakes on the electrical plan) and then drafting will make a final set of plans but from this point on we're told construction will commence within 20 days. Also, our pool went in yesterday too! Over the weekend it rained heavily and it was 1/2 full of water which required a day of pumping and removing the sludge but it got craned in yesterday and over the next few days it's being backfilled. Great to see so many builds progressing now! Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 508Mar 06, 2014 8:25 pm Mckz, that's great news. There is lots of action on here, very exciting for all of us. Let's hope the rain goes away and we get some real progress. Mckz don't forget the pictures. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 510Mar 10, 2014 10:13 pm Pool looks good, who are you going through? Our piers are getting done tomorrow. DH is going out to the site to meet the supervisor and be there for pier inspection. Anyone had unexpected costs here? Always get nervous as these stages. Don't understand why they have to inspect again, we had one done at the beginning and a report done. But, now they need to it again at actual piercing. Fingers crossed no addition cost. So far, have money back from pool guy as less soil needed tipping and also should get something from the house as there should be no cost to remove soil. Fingers crossed it actually happens and doesn't get absorbed somewhere else. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 512Mar 11, 2014 9:00 pm Mars ya, progress. You are only a day behind us. We just had piers today and they did the initial slab frame. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We ended up having a variation in pier depth, waiting on cost and also, received a variation in length to sewer and storm water connection. Hope we don't get many of these. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 513Mar 11, 2014 10:28 pm Upsize, how many lm extra piering did you require? For the storm water and sewage variations, are you further from the connection than provided for? But I thought your sewer main was close by. Hopefully we both get the slab down before more wet weather! Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 514Mar 12, 2014 8:26 pm We needed 16.2 lm extra. Still not sure of the cost, received variation today but no variation cost detailed. Our sewer is at the back of our block, from the house it is 17m, our allowance was only 8m, in hindsight should have increased that amount, always new it was going to be extra. But, I think it was one of those things that they like to leave for now and not discuss prior. All the slab material was dumped on the block today. They finished the internal pipes today. Plan is to pour slab by Friday. Very happy with progress. Hoping it continues. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 515Mar 12, 2014 8:50 pm Great stuff Upsize & Mars - hope things run super smoothly for you guys, looks great so far! Pity about those extra lm & sewer distances, Upsize Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 517Mar 13, 2014 11:57 am Love the pictures! Mars78, that photo of your block is fantastic, blue skies and trees! I'll probably have to think about piering due to a sewer access point on our land so it's good to have some info here. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 518Mar 13, 2014 2:12 pm HousesforMouses it's a nice pocket of Kellyville. The trees behind will mostly be cleared though for stage 2 and 3. I've opted to get my own soil removed at a much cheaper rate. So any unused allowance will be credited. Hopefully this is the last if the expenses!! Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 519Mar 14, 2014 11:11 am Mars78, We looked at Kelllyville! There seemed to be some really nice pieces of land there but we decided it was a bit out of our budget. It's a bit sad the trees are going but I suppose that helps with BAL requirements and depending on your aspect it may give you more sun. We are close to a nature reserve so we've got high BAL and I have been trying to figure out whether we'll have limited sun. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 520Mar 14, 2014 4:59 pm More progress Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Love going to the block and seeing progress. Can't complain as yet. There is a house down the road that had their block leveled 2 weeks ago and just started putting wooded form work up for foundation posse etc. that would be frustrating waiting a week or more between every little step. They say concrete Monday! Fingers crossed the rain stays away until it is poured and drys. Our neighbour put the fence up today also, they moved in this week. It will make sneaking peaks at the house harder. Like he colour though. Ashame about the other side. We plan to get out the spray paint Ask for references and speak to them.
