Right or wrong, the rendering has been done and will be painted in a colour to match the brick next week. We'll see how long it lasts. I hope it does. I went around the neighourhood to see what others have done and most have short bricks, i.e. looks like the bricks have been cut to avoid the problem of them overhanging with holes showing. So much neater. Wish I had asked for that. Never mind, too late now.



I've confirmed black. Still not sure, especially in the entry, but black can't look out of place in my house so I'm not going to lose sleep about it. The second measure has been done--they sent an older guy who had spirit levels and tape measure instead of the modern laser units they use these days. He said the first measure was out by a few millimetres on one side. He also complimented the carpenter for the straightness and evenness of the window frames--yay! sounds like a good job was done there.

A few finishing touches were done today--wet boots on my lovely floor, boo hoo--we're supposed to have a final clean tomorrow but I'm wondering if it is worth it with the weather like it is. Final hanging hooks have been placed--wish I had been there when they did the first ones because they are way too high for me to reach; just as well I could have the remaining ones placed where I can reach them. The installer was fabulous and made a suggestion I hadn't thought of which I think turned out to be the perfect spot! Yay, Packers! they've done a very nice job--bedroom cupboards, shower screens, bathroom accessories, and kitchen splashback. Very happy.

joffofoz, our frameless shower screens were $2767 for the bathroom and $2931. The bathroom was less because there is less glass; in the ensuite there are three full height glass panels.

Yes I am a bit disappointed too. Our brickie did such a great job except for the window ledges

How does the render look? Not a big deal if it falls off as you can fix it.

Have had our final clean--everything seems to be covered with a greasy film. Never mind, it will be getting a lot dirtier again once we start moving furniture in. The lilac in the walls is rather strong in some lights, but hardly noticeable in others. Once the furniture is in I don't think it will be too overpowering.

Also, make sure you know what the air-conditioning and hot water controllers look like and exactly where you want them positioned. I thought I had them positioned in inconspicuous places, but have ended up with them being focal points! I'll get used to them, but they are ugly, and in one place they clash because one is off-white (cream really, and I tried so hard to avoid any cream in the colour scheme!) and the one next to it is grey.

Ensuite shower screen, also completed yesterday--I didn't realise it came with a corner shelf and wouldn't have ordered a straight one if I'd known, but we can't have too many shelves so looking at it as a bonus, although it doesn't quite match but I'll get used to that:

Some more painting to be done by the builder, and work will start on our outside next week. Then we can think about packing and moving.
