Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 01, 2014 6:51 am We are preparing to take our builder to NCAT tribunal over a workmanship dispute which will involve several different rectification works and trades.
Apparently need 3 written quotes for each of the rectification works or I believe if we get an expert report which is up to $2000 they submit a Scott schedule which only contains a costing not a quote? Is this right? and can we then submit a Scott schedule and do the same as getting tradies to provide a written quote is really hard. Has anyone had any experience with this please? Re: Scott schedules and quotes for tribunal 2Feb 01, 2014 7:20 am Hi nectar Your inspector should be advising you properly, if you don't have one how do you know you have picked up all significant defects? If you are going to the tribunal you have to prove two things. Defects and the cost to rectify You can do well on your own with your own quotes but it will be hard going on your own and you can walk away with nothing or a lot less. Tribunals do rely on experts and in your case expert estimator or quantity surveyor can prepare cost to fix to go along with your claim. Expect to pay around 2K for the report and $1500/day for expert to attend the hearing. If you are lucky some of your expert costs can be included in your award but that is entirely at the discretion of the tribunal Foremost Building Expert in Australia, assisting with building problems/disputes, building stage inspections,pre-contract review advice for peace of mind 200 blogs http://www.buildingexpert.net.au/blog I recently went through a similar renovation and move scenario when updating our family home.
