Browse Forums Building A New House Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 341Nov 05, 2013 6:38 pm Hi Everyone, it's been a while since I posted. We have moved house 5-10 mins from Manooka Valley and we are signing our contract with Masterton tomorrow morning. Our lovely sales lady who I used to work with many years ago and just so happened to meet up with her at Homeworld has been so helpful to us and it upsets me greatly to hear that she is fighting for life atm after a brain aneurysm. 5 operations in 8 days some of them for 9 hrs plus. AND her husband ( who is a Masterton exec) still took the trouble to reply to the email I sent her before I knew of her illness. So moving house to rent while you build is not so bad really...we have our health and we look forward to the future in Manooka Valley. Abe ...that's not good news how disappointing Wisdom builders- it has all started good for you guys Villina Grande Handover 10/9 Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 342Nov 06, 2013 9:24 pm Pikey it never ceases to amaze me how amazing ppl are. We are fortunate to have these caring souls for our children to learn from and treasure simplicity and kindness. We hope she has a speedy recovery. God bless. On another note we are going to try for lot 219 although at a premium and slope. On that note i understand Wisdom have a split contract on 220 which is similar. Paul any advice on potential costs re excavation costs and potential retaining walls? Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 343Nov 07, 2013 9:19 am Coral...just a heads up and whether your due diligence has reflected this...i think lot 527 is zoned E4 and dual occupancy and granny flats are not allowed...the zoning E4 extends to lot 219 and stage 4 release in most instances. On the idea of lot 219...3 degrees slope is too much for me...i'm sure at least 15k sites costs in addition to initial upgrade to H class and 32Mpa...not having a good time. Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 344Nov 07, 2013 1:27 pm Hi Abe, Hubby and I have had to give up lot 529 as hubby lost his job last Friday so if that land is something that will work for you you should contact Sasha. Wishing everyone all the best for their future building. Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 345Nov 07, 2013 1:39 pm sorry to hear that Coral...unlikely to be good for us as the electricity tower is within view, not including bush fire and slope requirements. Thanks for thinking of us. Hope things work out for you guys in the future, don't give up...i've been ther lost my job and home before but that hasn't let us give up on buying again...tc Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 346Nov 07, 2013 4:35 pm Hi folks, so what is the actual bank's requirement in terms of assessing electricity tower? i suppose it falls at back of the blocks 501-511 but it would be visible from all the blocks in the stage and would be in view. Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 347Nov 07, 2013 5:02 pm Hi All, Wow a lot happening for everyone and not all good news Sorry to hear it all, sometimes things happen for the best in the long run but it must be a very frustrating time for all of you. Abe - With a split and site costs I'd be estimating around $15k+ too. If you have the block details and want to flick them and a design to me I can price it up. Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 348Nov 07, 2013 6:12 pm Hi all, Great to see so much happening now...lots of activity in Oakbank Pl!! I'm sure things will happen when the time is right for Wendy and Abe. Hi Ash and Paul ...oakbank has been very busy! As I'm sure you have seen we have our waffle pods delivered and all the tradies working hard today. It is all taking shape finally. It is so nice that we can see our houses being built together. We are very excited !!! We are taking lots of photos. Hugh is planing on setting up a camera and taking progress photos as the build progresses. Our slab was meant to go down today (Monday)...we hoped they would work all day Saturday as we knew the rain was coming. I drove past on Sunday and got a awesome surprise....OUR SLAB was done.. Paul your frames are there and all the form work is delivered for John and Ash's place. Fingers crossed it is all dried out enough by the end of the week so they can continue with work. How is everyone else going in Manooka Valley? How are peoples plans going? We have been told it will be late Jan -Feb before they begin and we can't get into the colour room until the new year. All good though we will watch everyone's houses come up while we wait our turn Villina Grande Handover 10/9 Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 352Nov 12, 2013 6:13 pm Hi Chapo, Great news about your slab. Our slab is being poured tomorrow & we think they'll pour John's as well... fingers crossed the rain will stay away. I drove past earlier today & was surprised to see tradies working hard on our block in the pouring rain! Ash spoke to Craig on Friday & he said we should have frame & guttering by Xmas. Yay! So our update is....that we have our final site start appointment next tuesday 19th nov. We should have our final plans by friday with the weekend to go over them before our appointment (and hopefully there wont be any errors on it)...and then, within 20 days of the site appointment (which will be about the 8th december)...we should have some action on our block...im still hopeful we may get a slab down by christmas...but ill take anything on the block right now... cant wait to stop looking over plans and get to taking photos of the build... drove by the estate twice this week and the progress on some of the blocks is so fast....it will have people living in the houses in no time hope all else is going well for everybody... candice and ryan Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 354Nov 12, 2013 8:16 pm Hi pikey good news to hear your plans will go to council soon. What house are you building ? Sorry if you have told us before I have forgotten. Candice that is great news for you guys. It is a really exciting time once the site work starts. You find yourself taking photos of dirt and porta loos lol ....well I did! Sue that is such good news to hear your slab will be done tomorrow. I thought as much ..I too saw the workers out in the rain today. How exciting to think we will have our houses up by Christmas !!!!! The 2 completed houses that already have driveways etc make me wonder about there quality. Surely the internals are not finished too. The house with the fence up already, in my opinion doesn't look like much thought went into its looks It appears to have 2 toilet windows at the front of the house and some cladding right in the middle that looks like should be a window or a doorway....?? Maybe I should but seriously they have be built in 3 months. I don't think they even waited 2 weeks after the slab went down to put the frame up..??.....surely corners have been cut here and there Well I think I have used enough smilies for one night time for bed Building a Wisdom Impression 33 5 bed + study, outdoor leisure + lanai, Jasper colorbond roof Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 356Nov 13, 2013 7:45 pm Pikey I looked back through all the pages and found where you had told us what house..all the way back on page 10! ..lol...we have been chatting on here a while now and with so many names i had forgotten all your details...So did you sell your house at Picton ?How does it feel to be back in a suburb ? My sister did the big move 10 yrs ago out to near Goulburn but they are ready to move back..they are over the long drives into town and their teenage kids want friends etc Only problem is there place has been on the market for 6 months now with no luck They just need the right buyer who loves there place as much as they use to. Building a Wisdom Impression 33 5 bed + study, outdoor leisure + lanai, Jasper colorbond roof Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 357Nov 13, 2013 8:59 pm Chapo We finally sold the house after 8 painful mths we took a pretty bad hit as we were on an acre but what can u do..It's not easy to sell in some markets atm.Suburbia is a different story. We are renting in Harrington Park so it was a bit of a shock to the system at first to be so close to neighbours but it's fine. My trip to work is about 26 kms shorter and Danny's trip to work is now a ridiculous 6 mins when he catches the only red light...lol will be even less when we move to MV. I hear your sister...we didn't want to go anywhere on the weekends as everything involved a drive. I was driving 700kms a week for 9+ years and we were a slave to the gardens as beautiful as they were...all we did on weekends was work in the yard. Now we need to get a hobby Villina Grande Handover 10/9 Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 358Nov 13, 2013 9:32 pm My poor husband Hugh leaves work at 4:50 some mornings to catch a bus then 2 trains to work. He works in north sydney his building is right behind luna park. It's his choice not to drive ( trying to save money) but once we are back in Currans hill he will need to buy a 2 nd car. The bus times are not often enough out to Currans hill, especially if he comes home late. His travel times can be around 2 hrs,on bad days when he used to drive it could take him over 2 hrs just to get to work. I can't wait to walk the kids to school again. I feel like I'm always in the car! I'm glad you finally sold your place though I'm sure those 8 months would have been stressful. Building a Wisdom Impression 33 5 bed + study, outdoor leisure + lanai, Jasper colorbond roof Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 359Nov 14, 2013 7:38 pm Chapo -ouch ! that's too much travel Yes the sale was very stressful and our buyers are the absolute worst people...even after settlement they are giving us grief making demands....come on karma... Has your frame arrived yet? Villina Grande Handover 10/9 Re: BUILDING IN MANOOKA VALLEY CURRANS HILL 360Nov 14, 2013 8:48 pm Nope no frame but ash & sue and Jonh & Kylie's slab was done today and Paul's house is starting to look like a house We hope to hear from our ss tomorrow with an update. Yes the travel is not good for my Hugh but the pay is. Hugh wouldn't be able to find work closer in the area he works in ...well he could maybe for a smaller company but not for the same money. But we could never afford and never want to live in the city. Building a Wisdom Impression 33 5 bed + study, outdoor leisure + lanai, Jasper colorbond roof thanks guys! yes this is how I've exactly raised it with the builder. still awaiting response. 12 6358 Howdy all.
