Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 255Jul 05, 2013 9:24 pm UpsizeTime Update from us, we had a great meeting today with an estimator and draftsman to go over the plan and outings. Very productive, now to see the damage I caused. UpSize - well done on getting to the next point! Exciting times ~ when do you get the tender ? Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 256Jul 06, 2013 5:24 pm We probably get it next week but we'll be away so it will have to wait until the week after. Also, the land is ready for registration and the ball is rolling there also. Seems like everything is moving forward. Scarey and exciting! Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 257Jul 08, 2013 8:34 pm Hi Guys Awesome thread Will be using it going forward We have a custom build and are hoping we made the smart decision by going with kurmond Just a quick contract question In the event of delays to the project kurmond have a $1 per day allowance as compensation. Is this fair? I will be renting and obviously need them to keep on track Suggestions? Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 258Jul 09, 2013 7:02 pm Kingofthegrove, welcome to the thread. I'm not yet up to the contractual stage, but $1 per sounds absurd. Are you able to negotiate something more substantial? It hardly bodes well for the guaranteed build times, which I've noticed have recently been increased. My update is that we've had our colour appointment and are quite happy with the selections. Now to see it on altogether on paper. Upsize, hope there wasn't too much damage with your changes! Just thinking back on the number of changes and how quickly Kurmond turned them around...I spoke to someone building with Rawson and each change would take 3-4 weeks!! An example of a change was changing from a tile splashback to a glass splashback. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 259Jul 09, 2013 7:33 pm KingoftheGrove - a welcome from me, too. Like mars said - be sure to read the contract carefully and give consideration to all your options. I am not at the contract stage, so can't really comment. Great stuff mars on your colour appointment - did you choose 'good' colours?! How long was your colours appointment? My update: waiting for feedback to Kurmond on Council requirements - we have a few hoops to jump through, some possible design changes, then - we hope - tender stage to get the 'real' show on the road. Hope everyone else is having some success. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 260Jul 10, 2013 10:42 am Unreal, the colour appointment went a lot quicker than expected...just over an hour! There were people there before us and they were still there when we left. The key was getting the right brick, which we had went to and fro over the weekend...finally ending up yesterday morning at PGH and chose Mocha. I don't have all the colours at hand, but these are what I remember: Bricks - PGH Mocha Roof Tiles - Boral Contour Dark Chocolate Gutters - Loft Fascia - Dune Windows - Dune Porch - a light beige render Porch timber battens - Merbau Timber Front Door - Merbau Timber Garage Door - Panel Lift Merbau Timber Coat Rainwater Tank & Downpipes - Loft (I think...) Driveway - A Chocolate colour They will send us a computer generated image this week with the approximate colours. Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74701 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
