Which rooms are you getting the shutters in? Also, were Wynstan able to give you a rough quote just by looking at your plans? It's all coming together lovely Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 787Jun 24, 2013 7:07 pm Nat84 Rubyam Darrenh Wow congrats rubes.. It's all coming together lovely Oh & we're having shutters in bed 1, theatre room, family, meals, bed 4, bed 3, bed 2 (So 7 in total). I really REALLY wanted them on the sidelights but that was our compromise So we're going to have the bathroom, ensuite and side lights frosted, hard-plastic vertical blinds (no chains, EWW) for the sliding door and probably nothing for the laundry, but if we need something i will just sew a little curtain -Rubyam Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 788Jun 24, 2013 7:10 pm Things are shaping up kitchen is in, bench tops are in, bathrooms pretty much done besides toilets baths and showers, first coat of paint is complete. Our SS thinks we should be complete in 5-6weeks But who knows.. Waiting for flooring and light fit outs etc Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 789Jun 24, 2013 7:23 pm Thanks Rube-sta! I forgot you even said you'd email the quotes, but that would be wonderful just whenever, no rush what are sidelights by the way?! Daz that is fantastic!!! You must be stoked! I was just wondering if anyone had thier lot reassessed for a BAL rating? And how much was it to assess it? I found out it could save you $$.And is it worth doing? Thanks guys Oh! Wollongong was hit pretty bad, my whole street lost power (including the hotel across the road!) Yikes! aguzmutton Good to hear that everyones places are coming along well. Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 794Jun 25, 2013 7:16 pm @ Rubyam: Thanks for the info. Yeah these bal ratings are annoying. Only thing is our lot is rated at 40, and we were getting quoted $40000. We were speaking to one builder and they said they had someone that was in the same situation as us. And that they had their lot reassesed and ended up being a bal 29 at the front and bal 19 to rear. Which saved them $30000. I think their lot was 518 not too sure but the front of them is the woodland reserve. So not sure to spend 800 dollars to get reassesed and then to find out we are in bal 40, or it may be lowered. **MrzMutton** Building with Allcastle Homes (Big Bannaby 36 Ascot) My Blog: https://andreaandstevesascot36.blogspot.com/ Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 795Jun 25, 2013 7:50 pm aguzmutton @ Rubyam: Thanks for the info. We were originally rated at 12.5, then it got changed to 12.5 for 3/4 of the house and BAL 19 for the rear wall. We paid about $4500 in our tender for bushfire requirements, when we went to council, our builder found out that council didn't require us to have them. Now as sarking is not included in the original tender but had to be in the bushfire requirements, we got $2100 refunded. Basically we still had to pay for sarking ($2600), which was fine. So I would definitely get an assessment done by council if you are supposedly rated at 40. $40000 is a massive amount extra if you don't have to. Let us know how you go. Cheers. It was very quiet out there. Not many people on site due to the rain. I decided to go out and see if the winds had toppled our fencing over on the high side- but all good. Ruby no-one at your house either. What stage are you up to at the moment? What stage are you up to at the moment? We reached lock up last week and the kitchen/aarchitraves/skirting was meant to be installed this week - we're doing a trip out tomorrow to meet with Wynstan to do a measure up for our plantation shutters so we'll be able to have a good peek inside and see if anything's happened. Fingers crossed! -Rubyam Re: Building in Brooks Reach - Community Thread 800Jun 27, 2013 1:44 pm Hey all Kat and I have orders our shutters and Security door for handover, we got them through my mate at accent blinds.
