After being told to hope for a "possible" PCI date of the Tuesday before Easter, this then got moved to the Thursday before Easter. That came and went, but after advice from the SS we had already booked our floating floors and carpet to be laid the week after Easter. These dates all came from our SS, so as milestones started falling, we just kept coming back to the SS to say " you told us to book this all in".......!!!! So as we had our floor layers arrive AND we were given the keys to our sliding doors so we could let them in ourselves - very good from our SS. So, we had access to our home whilst the flooring was being done. In hindsight, everything should have been pushed to 2nd week of April, but as we had already given notice to our Real Estate where we were renting, we had to push ahead. We moved in last Friday without PCI having been done, or PCI payment made, or final payment made. God must have been looking down on us over this period. Our M SS did not worry about the money (which I'm sure many would) and realised that we had only booked all the items to be done on their say so. We must be a one-in-a-milllion client of M's. We needed no bank finance so all our payments have been done with quickness and on time with no delays, so maybe Jim Masterton was looking after us, after all. It's pretty damn good that we were allowed to move in without making any final payments, heh???? Now for the bad part. With all the commotion over getting in on the dates advised, we still had not had the house cleaned. Terrible to keep looking at your new home as it looked the day/way their tradies left it. We could not see imperfections as there was so much dust, dirt and grime over everything. We finally got a cleaner in the day we moved in. Our removalists were walking around gear and bumping into the cleaners..... terrible, really. Since then, we have had the dishy, air con, oven, HWS installed. The rangehood does not fit correctly so is being re-ordered. As are some kitchen cupboards that have dents in them. Bathroom mirrors are being replaced due to scratches. Rubbish is to be removed as the outside clean has not been done either. The bath spout is to be replaced. Some bricks need motar injected. Many, many paint problems - too many to mention are to be repaired also. All in all, about 12 items listed on our PCI listing. Some have been done this week already, others still waiting to be looked into. It's been a while since my last post. I finally received DA approval after approx just before 2months. I am told now we need Construction Certificate? How much longer will that take? Thank you in advance people Normally your DA approval comes with CC (technically it is CC). The approval document will come with whole lot of conditions and regulations as well as rules for the construction. Was it Council or CDC? The tilers just down-tooled for a couple of weeks and the other tradies had to work on, then come back again later. Hey, we have keys! Handover was pretty straightforward. Lots of tradies to arrange, but they help you with that to some degree. Pretty much everyone coming the same day next week. In the meantime, arranging connect to grid, Telstra duct, and driveway ourselves. Looks like we won't have a driveway for when we move in, as it needs 2 weeks to settle. Blog updated! Check it. Still no work from the tilers, and the painters were a bit annoyed as they cannot finish off, if tiling is not complete in all the wet areas and they will be forced to come back. At least some work is progressing... It's looking really good Vatche! So frustrating when the tradies seem to just vanish isn't it and it delays everything!!!! We met with the SS on Tuesday morning about our 'stair issue'! Result is we have to have some walls moved around because the stairs can't be changed...... apparently when the plans were drawn they didn't leave enough space for the turning risers..... not ideal but not as bad or risky as it currently is! Positive news is Kitchen and Bathroom cabinets were all delivered on Monday and due to go in yesterday (shows how things have been here - I haven't managed to go visit and look through the windows!), tiling is due to start next week and painter the following week..... SS has said we might be granting our daughter her wish of being in by her birthday on the June long weekend!!!! a bit exciting but we never really get our hopes up too much given all our experiences with things slipping! YAY. still not sure what happened to my PCC and i dont think i will as she wouldnt be able to explain not returning any of my voice mails and my many emails. Just glad to finally see things moving along and cant wait to get slabbed Good luck with your colour selections Make sure you take a photo of every item you select, as 5-6 months later, you will not remember what you chose! Awesome!!! It's so good when things come together!!! Great advice Vatche - I have absolutely no idea what to expect at our place lol!!! Good to read they will fix it the proper way. As I mentioned, regulation in regards to stairs is very strict! (I know, because when we had to put a 3 steps at our work place, they had to rip it out and do it again for 3 times! When inspector came through to certify it, he would measure and not pass ) Make sure you let the thread know how it goes. As to peeking through the windows, these days by the time I finish work and try to get on site, it is too dark to see anything. I'm having bit longer lunch breaks With all the sub-contractor shuffling, don't be surprised if things take longer as that's what I was told, but the result is different now. Hi Vatche It was Council for DA approval Hi Vina, Our DA was Council approved and we were going with the private certifier from Masterton until he wanted to cause a whole lot of problems. We ended up going through the council and it only took us another week and a half. It depends on which council you have and what they are like if that is the way you are going.
