Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 761Oct 14, 2012 7:50 am Hi Onewheel, thanks a lot for your wishes.. We did get the handover date but not the date we wanted. The last 2 days rain has added more worried to us because the driveway has been postponed .... Now I'm hoping that the next 3-4 days they can catch up with the long list to rectify. The main concern is the bricks repointing. Just realised that their mortar result is not good... So many repointings need to be done after they clean/ spray the brick 2nd time... Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 762Oct 16, 2012 5:33 pm Hi, Just want to update quickly that handover will be in a few days. Sooo ... busy organising connection & disconnections, booking removal, changing address, watching the last few days the tradies come & go to finish the job, had our independent inspector yesterday, driveway was poured yesterday & loveeee it!! Carpet is being installed the last 2 days but hasn't finished yet due to not enough underlay. Wall need painting everywhere... Tiles need to be cleaned... So still few bits & pieces to finish. Meanwhile we still haven't finished packing.. Disassembled few furnitures & study desk, so exhausted... But excited!! Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 763Oct 16, 2012 5:53 pm Oh how exciting!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!! Really pleased to hear you will have the keys very soon!!! I can just imagine all the work needed to be done with connections and disconnections and so forth. I've just started to think about it now myself and have a bit of a list happening now. Hope all goes well in the next couple of days. When you get a chance make sure you post some photo's of your finished house, I am sure it will take a while til you can do this so don't rush, but would love to see some pics. Good luck for the move !!! We built the Wisdom Majestic 40 - moved in! Yes, I can't believe myself, finally this building journey will end soon... But there's still more to do which is fencing, retaining wall & landscaping which will be interesting & more challenging... I will definitely post lots of photos soon. Telstra just called me now that they're organising the connection to the new house. Hopefully it'll be ready by the time we move in. Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 766Oct 17, 2012 11:03 am Congratulations!!! How exciting to finally be at the end... It has been a long journey indeed. Also, I thought I would quickly write (triggered from a discussion on another thread where someone from Wisdom registered on the forum and decided to make some posts), if anyone is concerned about defamation, there are three things to remember: 1. The TRUTH is a defence to defamation (eg. so stating facts correctly is OK) 2. HONEST OPINION based on true facts is a defence to defamation (eg. saying the wrong door was installed, if that did actually happen, then giving your opinion good or bad about that). 3. Companies with more than 10 employees cannot' sue for defamation. The law was changed a few years ago and this was one of the significant reforms, which many companies are not aware of. In the past many companies used the threat of defamation to gag people and stifle free speech, so this reform is significant. Individuals of large companies can still sue IF they are identified (eg. the CEO of company XXX would identify that person even if not saying the name), but just writing about a large company, eg. Builder X, can be more open now due to these revisions to the law. Yes, it's a long journey.... Still few things to do tomorrow though. Big things are cleaning the polished porc tiles which I'm eager to see it... Then electrician should install few lights & brickies must do repointing few areas. And I just looked that one of the cavity sliding door scratched upper, middle & lower part, because something sharp inside the cavity (nail?) not happy & have asked SS to replace the door. But I guess if W agree, then it will be done after handover....??? Still have no news about the roof that's so dirty.... although SS has emailed Bristile roof about it. Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 769Oct 17, 2012 6:41 pm Hi Willcres, Can't wait for you to move in and give us your final judgement on Wisdom. I wanted to start my own tread but don't want to start with negative comments ( still waiting for something positive to happen ). Good luck ! Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 770Oct 17, 2012 8:22 pm Hi Wogboy, Thanks for your comments. Would love to read your journey as well. There are up & down for every builder, no one perfect. It's how they solve the problem that we can judge. So far I've been happy, well sometimes stress, sometimes angry then happy again.... The end result are almost finish. I've been there the last 3 days for almost whole day & I like what I see although there's few hiccups & lots of text messages & emails to my SS so he can organise the tradies to come before it's too late. So, just waiting the carpet to finish, cleaner to clean, some bricks to be repointed, electrician to install lights... Will update tomorrow.. Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 771Oct 18, 2012 6:29 am Hi wilcres. I wish most critical things are sorted if not all of them before the handed over. Yeah I feel you should enjoy the hand over date as the roller coaster journey ends very soon. I can't wait to see the end result of my house, too. So close to the finishing line now We built the Wisdom Majestic 40 - moved in! So handover was on 18 Oct as planned but was late 2-3 hrs, as usual with every builder I guess.... Long story short, I was not happy with the cleaner because they didn't clean the house properly esp the polished porcelain tiles. So SS rang her & there she came back again & clean our floor tiles. It took like almost 1.5hrs itself with me supervising behind her....he..he... Then carpet another story, they ran out of materials on Tuesday & only came on handover day on Thursday 11am to finish it. It took them until 3.30pm to finish. Hhmmm... SS has been great so far although I have to admit he's left everything last minute & few things forgot to organise. Then 4.30pm I have to drive asap to handed out the last cheque to the W head office which is soooo far away in Narellan, appreciate the girl who waited for me because it's already past 5pm. DH slept there the 1st night & he said the house was great & warm. We were super busy cleaning & packing last few boxes. Then 19 Oct was my historic day moving here. It was my 2nd sister birthday as well & I almost forgot it!!! Removal came 1 hr late, carpet steamer 1/2 hr late, so we're all behind with giving keys to the agent. Luckily the new tenant are willing to extend to Sunday moving in, so now we can go back & clean up the house properly. Oh and on 19th The plumbers came to install hot water & appliances & all is ok. We were worried if there's no gas, but yes gas & hotwater were fine & connected. Electrician still need to come back because someone stole our footer light bulbs. Microwave will be installed on Monday, & A/C will be installed next Friday because SS, I think, forgot to organise it.... Overall, slept my first night here, the boys love their ensuites, love my waterfall bathspout, the spacious rooms we have, even all our furnitures looks shrinking & smaller with 2.7m ceiling... He..he... Yes, we love the house, with so much effort & stress the last 8 months, We are finally there.....& yes sooo much things to do...Unpacking hundreds of boxes & bags.... Uurrghh... I regretted I didn't order our windows covering earlier, so now we have to live with paper stick to the window. Ok, must go now & will update again with photos soon. We didn't even know if there's any phoneline or not. Cheers!! Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 776Oct 20, 2012 9:19 am Warmest congratulationnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn to my friend M I'm so proud of you my dear friend M....You are a really "damn" good fighter All the best wishes for your new stage of your family Re: Journey of Building a Wisdom home (Boston 50.7sq) 779Oct 20, 2012 11:52 am Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After a long build and a few issues very pleased to hear you have the keys and moved in. Now the next stage begins, W finalising instalations, unpacking and getting yourselves settled into the house and landscaping to name a few. I remember living with paper window coverings in our current house, we didn't organise til we moved in. It will do for now. Glad to hear you love the house. Not surprised it was not cleaned properly, apparently they only do a comercial clean and not a "hotel" clean. But at least the cleaner came back and you were there to watch it get done properly.
