Bricking has begun..... I don't remember any of the colours I picked and I hope that everything turns out looking ok!

Hi everyone!

I've been searching through the blogs on this site, and while people have created threads about specific homes they are building, I haven't come across anything re Statesman Homes in general. Hopefully someone reads this and adds their own experiences with SH

Hi JessieKay- been while since been on the forum- finished building a year ago.. Thinking about doing it all again possibly.. Saw your post re statesman homes, not sure if u found any relevant forums. If not search for Hickinbotham or "construction services". Construction services is parent company of both. You will find plenty on both.

I am aware of the link between Hickinbotham and Statesman Homes (Construction Services) but your post might help other people out

My new home is well and truly underway now, so hopefully other people who are still in the planning stage will see these posts and get something positive out of it.

That's cool Jessie. I've had a big setback, myself. I got the soil report and the footing cost came in at quite a bit above the salesman's estimate, plus I need retaining walls. So I'm not sure if I'll be able to continue. Will have to wait til the retaining wall quotes come in.

Not much more bricking to go on our drive past this afternoon. A look around inside shows that they are getting ready to gyprock! YAY! It also looks like most of the internal wiring has been completed and the ducting for the aircon is in.

Hey all

It's been a while since I've put any photos up, but the good news is that the builder called yesterday to advise the 2nd fix has been completed and that it should be 6 to 8 weeks (definitely within August 2011) that the place should be finished and that they will call me in the near future to organise a walkthrough. Awesome!

DazzaB - I hope that your plans to build have worked out ok for you.

Hi I am building the joslin with statesman homes.. Going to have colour seletcions soon. Have no idea.. which colours etc.. any helpful hints would be great..

The greys / chocolate / beige like what I've picked seems to be quite popular at the moment. Maybe you need to pick a theme and go with it? I wish I could get inside the house and take photos of the bathroom and kitchen etc properly to give some colour ideas.

It's been 3 months since the slab went down, so things have progressed very quickly. Walkthrough / pre-handover is scheduled for 15 August. Yay :-)

Hey aswright1015, I just checked out the Joslin and looks like quite a nice floorplan, and very similar to the Brooklyn. Goodluck with your colour selections. I was the only person with the consultant at the colour selection meeting, so it was easy to pick out what I wanted / liked without worrying about what someone else thought about my choices. The consultant was really helpful, so if you kind of have an idea of the colours you'd like for your new place, they will help you bring it all together.

This is the first place I've ever build, and I found it useful to spend a bit of time at the selection centre before the actual appointment, maybe a few weeks beforehand, so you can see what's on offer :-)

Wow JessieKay, i cant believe how quickly your house has come together - its looking great. You must be moving in soon?? You must have the shortest thread on here covering start to finish :lol:

DazzaB i am building in Klemzig and had massive site prep/footing costs ($70k). We had allowed an additional 40k, then got another variation of $18 once the soil report come in - a very big shock. can i ask what yours come in at?

Good to see progress Jessie. I should be starting to build soon.

Drayto, total site works came in at $51k plus I need to get retaining walls down both sides (est. $9k). Original estimate was only $29k.

I can certainly sympathise with you Dazza - we managed to scrape in, but had to forgo a lot of other things, but i can live with that, our choices seem to be coming together ok.

Wow Dazza - certainly a bit more then the original estimate! I hope everything goes as smoothly as what I have experienced with Statesman :-)

It sure doesn't feel that long ago that I was waiting for them to start... I guess it has only been a few months.

I can't believe that handover will be in 2 weeks time! Everything has gone smoothly, no hiccups to report, and hopefully it keeps on going that way.
