Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 17, 2009 7:59 am Hi, Well we are excited because we have a date for our tender appointment, and by the end of this week we will have all the quotes for demolition done, survey done and another visit to Camden to look at external colours etc ready for tender appointment. It almost seems silly to be excited about all of these little things when everyone is at far more exciting stages of their builds. Our design is council compliant so we are hoping for as smooth a ride through council as possible and would appreciate as many "crossed fingers and toes" as you guys can muster. Re: Micklou's build 2Sep 17, 2009 3:18 pm GUESS WHAT??? It's not silly, because we've all been there and we are all excited for you!!!!!! crossed fingers: [Keep us posted, Good Luck at your tender. Check everything, make sure it's what you wanted. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Micklou's build 3Sep 21, 2009 3:44 pm Thanks for those crossed fingers themax - they are great! I have been trawling these boards and getting as much information as I can which has been awesome. We have chosen our brick and roof colour etc and it is a little bit scary because we seem to be making decisions easily Quotes for demolition are coming in and they are not much different to the quotes I got 5 years ago......... Your advice re tender is heeded.... I have read too many stories now. That is not until 12 October so we will know more then. Finance talk tonight with mortgage broker. Let's hope the bank wants to throw money at us Cheers! Re: Micklou's build 4Sep 21, 2009 6:48 pm I know exactly what you mean about being excited over the littlest things....tender, council approval, signing contracts, finance approved...it's all exciting and when your eagerly awaiting the end product..which hopefully is your dream home...its hard for it not to consume your life...this forum has been a godsend for me too....congratulations on tender.. Brigette Re: Micklou's build 7Sep 21, 2009 9:25 pm Knockitdown we are building with Clarendon (Dural). Single storey, very simple but has a great flow. Thanks for all the thoughts everyone - will keep you updated. By the way my mortgage broker seems very optimistic Will have to wait and see - valuations happening soon to check borrowing capacity L Re: Micklou's build 8Sep 21, 2009 9:40 pm best of luck micklou! nice floorplan, hope it all goes well for u Re: Micklou's build 9Sep 23, 2009 10:17 am OK it is now official that I am now spending more time thinking about my house than either my work or study. (Maybe that needs to change....) Bit cranky today because out of 4 requests for quotes for demolition we have only received 1 back and it is over a week We also have not had our contour survey done despite hearing from the company that will do it over a week ago. We are supposed to receive a phone call prior - just want to start ticking some things off. Patience is a virtue blah blah blah....... Nothing will be happening today because of this lovely weather we are experiencing - must be so frustrating for those of you that are actually building. Hopefully it all blows out and tomorrow is a bright shiny day Re: Micklou's build 11Sep 23, 2009 12:48 pm I have also pm'ed you re: demo Good luck with the mortgage broker before you know it you will be able to sign your name in your sleep Re: Micklou's build 12Sep 23, 2009 3:55 pm Thanks for the pms re Demo info. Much appreciated. Very relieved because we are getting surveyed tomorrow!! Woohoo! Oh and I have started my very first blog to record our adventures.... http://lou-log.blogspot.com Re: Micklou's build 14Sep 23, 2009 8:11 pm not silly, people do cartwheels over taps! A thankful person is a happy person. [/color]My hobby design blog: http://aviewondesign.blogspot.com/ Re: Micklou's build 15Sep 25, 2009 10:15 pm Hi Micklou This is our first entry on this forum. We are also at the early stages of a knockdown rebuild in the Sutherland Shire. We have chosen a floor plan with a project builder (display home was at Spring Farm) and had the Contour Survey and Soil Test done. We received a quote which has been amended a couple of times and recently paid $4k to get the plans properly drawn up for Council. We have also got a couple of demolition quotes. Would you mind telling us who you will be using. Thanks. Looking forward to following your journey. Re: Micklou's build 16Sep 26, 2009 8:57 am Hi Domestic Bliss, I have pm'd you re the demo information. Cheers! Micklou Re: Micklou's build 17Sep 26, 2009 9:09 am Hi! We have had a tiny bit of progress..... all 4 demo quotes are in now - what a difference in those! Wow! Will make that decision once we have our tender - only 16 sleeps to go! Cannot believe I am so excited to find out how much they are going to sting us for! Anyway....... We should also find out about finance approval very early next week. One disappointment though - the bricks that we were told verbally would be in the "standard range" ARE NOT!!!!! So we may be back to the drawing board re choosing our facade etc based on the bricks we can have........ oh it feels like we are definitely in the queue for the rollercoaster now! i.e if we cannot have a nice brick we will HAVE to render....... but some of the bricks can cost as much as a render (which has more long term maintenance issues AFAIK).......... my brain hurts a little bit... Am waiting to hear back from my contact at C to find out what the charge will be for the brick upgrade. Was not going to post to my blog today......... but I feel the need to "download". This is becoming a full-time job! ML Re: Micklou's build 18Oct 02, 2009 7:22 pm WE HAVE BEEN UNCONDITIONALLY APPROVED FOR OUR FINANCE - WOOHOO!!!! Re: Micklou's build 19Oct 02, 2009 11:05 pm Cool - Congratulations. Hope the rest of the build process goes smoothly Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense.
