Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 31, 2016 9:36 am Hi everyone! After spending a lot of time on here looking at everyone's amazing home build's I've decided to start one for ours. We are first home owners and first time builders (27 & 28). We are building in Bluestone Mt Barker on a 375 sqm block. We looked into a number of builders mid last year and narrowed it down to Rivergum and D&C Homes. We compared quotes and standard inclusions and felt that D&C homes was the best option for us. They were upfront about all costs and being a smaller scale builder to the main stream ones, they were able to offer us more and can be more attentive to our needs. We are waiting patiently for our section of Bluestone to be finished. We have been told that the kerbs are due in mid Feb and the roading should follow not long after. Hoping to be able to access the land by the end of Feb. We have designed our own plan and finished most of our selections this week. We just have electrical and kitchen selections next week and then we meet with the interior consultant to make all the final selections like paint, doors and handles etc. Our aim is to commence building by mid May 2016. Our builder is pretty keen to get access to the land to complete the site surveys and engineering reports so hopefully we can meet that time frame. Over all goal is to have our first Christmas in our new home with our family this year! Re: First Build - Bluestone Mt Barker with D&C Homes 3Jan 31, 2016 11:13 am Hi JK28, Im looking forward to following your build! We too are looking to build in Mt Barker but probably going to go with Rivergum. However there doesn't seem to be much information on Home One, compared to the other volume builders.. We looked at Product Review for Rivergum and they have some positive reviews. Our only hesitation was the limitations on the standard inclusions and the costs to upgrade. Re: First Build - Bluestone Mt Barker with D&C Homes 10Mar 15, 2016 7:30 pm Hi Gunners13. We have found them to be great with prices and speed of things. I'm a control freak so I tend to be constantly asking questions and seeking updates. We really need to be all moved in by November so they have been pretty good at organising the encumbrance. We are waiting to get the application to Council now. I think that they do organise most of that. Re: First Build - Bluestone Mt Barker with D&C Homes 11Apr 27, 2016 8:02 pm Hey I saw your post! My wife and I are currently trying to find a good builder but I find all the sales guys just tell you what you want to hear. We have a design in mind pretty much identical to your design. How much are D&C quoting for your home?? Have they got good inclusions? Re: First Build - Bluestone Mt Barker with D&C Homes 12May 07, 2016 10:56 am Hey Joe, sorry I didn't see your message come up. I think we are paying around $1050 per square metre. We get free stone bench tops and we've added in some nice extras. Defiantly worth going to see them, we dealt with Amber and she's been great and very available through the whole process so far Re: First Build - Bluestone Mt Barker with D&C Homes 13May 07, 2016 11:00 am New update! We have been waiting for 5+ months for Bluestone to finish the land and we were told it would be finished at the end of February. That's massively delayed our progress and from what I've heard, there are many others that have had these issues in Bluestone. We've just waiting on our planning approval to be mailed to our builder then it's final engineering reports then building approval. Looks like we will be starting in late June now.
