Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building the Turin with Simonds at Ambrosia Estate 121May 27, 2013 9:21 pm SO MUCH has happened in a week I almost can't believe it! They started and finished our painting (and I highly recommend 3 coats. We can hardly find a spot wrong!), our stacked stone went up outside, they started our tiling and just today our stone benchtops arrived!! It feels more like a home every day. Here are some pics: The stacked stone (they haven't painted outside yet) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our tiling Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And our stone benchtops! Re: Building the Turin with Simonds at Ambrosia Estate 122May 27, 2013 10:42 pm Wow tiles looks great, we have selected similar tiles with dark grout Re: Building the Turin with Simonds at Ambrosia Estate 123Jun 03, 2013 2:47 pm Looks amazing hannahzoe. Everything is coming together now love the window seat and the pebbles in the shower niche. I know the mirror will be one of the last things to go in but im not sure who will do it sorry. Re: Building the Turin with Simonds at Ambrosia Estate 124Jun 03, 2013 3:03 pm Hi Taylor, how is your new home? Have you managed to unpack everything yet? You must be walking around with a preeminent smile on your face!
I am so impatient! I want to know everything that's happening and what's due to happen next. I'd love it if they out it all down in a list of the vague order things will happen in and very roughly how long each thing might take. We all know that will never happen though! Our tiling is pretty much finished now although they haven't grouted very well in areas and one tile is missing on our bath. Other than that, it looks great! We also have our beautiful stone benchtops and they have started on the electrical fit out today. We have our first walk-through on Wednesday!! We are going to try and prize some kind of estimated completion time from our SS's lips. We'll see if we get anywhere Re: Building the Turin with Simonds at Ambrosia Estate 125Jun 05, 2013 8:26 pm We had our first official walk-through today and probably our last before PCI... because he said we are only 3-4 weeks away!!! I'm giddy with excitement! Several things have happened this week so far (these guys never stop!). Carpenter due next week, carpet next Thursday and concrete driveway by the end of the week! I really can't believe how quick its happening. We are really pleased with the quality also. We've had no problems and only spotted tiny paint touch ups needed. We couldn't really have asked for anything more - quick build and great quality! Hopefully the next few weeks will fly by and then we'll be celebrating with keys in our hands! Re: Building the Turin with Simonds at Ambrosia Estate 126Jun 05, 2013 9:42 pm Wow hannahzoe - I am amazed and thrilled for you at how quick your build has been! Your house looks beautiful, I love your stacked stone, just gorgeous. You can rest easy with your colour selections, you have done a great job. Looking forward to seeing more pics! It's reassuring to hear that others like our choices. Really can't wait to see the final pieces come together! Re: Building the Turin with Simonds at Ambrosia Estate 128Jun 10, 2013 9:02 pm Here is our beautiful flooring that went down on Friday! It's a bit darker than I thought the sample was but its still beautiful and we're pleased. Re: Building the Turin with Simonds at Ambrosia Estate 129Jun 17, 2013 9:17 pm Carpet is in, shelving and door handles are done mirrors, showscreens in and our driveway is done!!! It really feels pretty much finished now. Our splash back goes in tomorrow and I can not wait to see it. It was one of our bigger risks and will also make the house feel complete as everything else to be done are boring things like our solar hot water tank and sealing tiles and things.
On Wednesday we have a walk-through with our site supervisor. We are going away for 10 days from Saturday and I have just found out our PCI is on the day we return (yippeeeee!). I have seen some amazing check lists on forums on here in the past but I can't seem to find them now (when I really need them!). If anyone has a link to a check list or has any tips I'd be really grateful if you could let me know. Re: Building the Turin with Simonds at Ambrosia Estate 132Jun 18, 2013 3:33 pm PCI is officially booked for 2nd July!!!!!!!! Re: Building the Turin with Simonds at Ambrosia Estate 133Jun 22, 2013 7:53 pm You must be so excited. Not long now)) Re: Building the Turin with Simonds at Ambrosia Estate 135Jul 05, 2013 9:34 pm I haven't written on here for a while as we were out of the country for 10 days (someone was nice enough to get married in a hot and beautiful country!). Quite a lot has happened since I last updated. We had a pre-PCI before we went on holiday. We mostly just picked up painting touch ups but the main thing was that they had installed the wrong splash back. They agreed that they had and said they would get it changed. It was supposed to be changed on Monday or Tuesday of this week but it still looks the same so fingers crossed it will happen next week. I'm praying it doesn't delay us from being able to move in. It's all now in the hands of the bank and how long it takes them release the funds. We would love for it to all be sorted by next weekend so we can move in then. Our CSR said she only needs an hours notice for handover! I think I'll spend the week on the edge of my seat. The reason I'm so keen to move in next weekend is because I'm off out of the country for a wedding again in a couple of weeks - last trip for a long time with a mortgage now! We're so happy with the house. It's such a relief that all of our colour choices work well together (and we're just waiting on the final piece of the puzzle with the splash back). Hopefully next time I write on here we'll have an official count down until we get the keys! Re: Building the Turin with Simonds at Ambrosia Estate 136Jul 10, 2013 4:02 pm Splashback update - it turns out they did change it and it is still the wrong colour. They are just saying that its the way the light falls on it but its a definite grey colour instead of being a definite brown colour. I am quite annoyed as they have put 2 in now and neither are right and now we might be stuck with the wrong one! On top of that we have found out that someone has the empty block next to us on hold and wants to build a big double storey house. We already have a double going up the other side of us. There would only be 2 double storey's down our entire street and we would be sandwiched in between the 2 of them. We've said we'll contest it because it would block the sun to our north facing roof making our sloar hot water and elec useless and it will also dramatically decrease the sunlight that can enter our main living areas making our house dark and cold We've been advised that there really isn't much we can do but it will be devastating if it goes ahead. We will have a view either side of brick walls, we will be overlooked from both sides and our little house will look stupid in between. It will affect our reselling because no one will want a little house in between 2 big doubles thats overlooked from both sides and thats dark and cold inside with no solar because our roof is shadowed (((( All that aside we should be able to get the keys on Friday. It doesn't feel like it should though. We're not excited. We are just upset that this whole double storey neighbours thing is ging on. We have looked forward to this for so long and we've worked so hard to get it and to have it how we want it and now we are thinking of selling because of the goal post situation In a nutshell, today I am devastated and sad. The only hope we have is that he pulls out and someone building a single buys it! Fingers crossed... Re: Building the Turin with Simonds at Ambrosia Estate 137Sep 09, 2013 1:59 pm Ur floor looks extra good~ R they engineering wooden floor or laminate? And looks like your block is of thier stage 4 release, I just bought a block of their stage 5, hopefully will start building by the end of 2013 or Jan of next yr~ and stop paying rent asap!!! Re: Building the Turin with Simonds at Ambrosia Estate 138Sep 09, 2013 2:10 pm Hi trambay! Yes we are in stage 4b near the park. It's a lovely estate to live in. Our floors are Tasmanian oak laminate. Who are you building with? It's very exciting and once they get started they really move along quick. Our was started, finished and we'd moved in in 3 months and 1 week! Good luck with everything! It looks like the land in stage 5 should title soon? Re: Building the Turin with Simonds at Ambrosia Estate 140Sep 09, 2013 2:24 pm Hey guys building a new place through a volume builder and just wondering if i should complain to the site supervisor as we just had plasterboard installed. Looks like… 0 11597 Elvis has left the building... The site supervisor quit after 2 month on the project. I guess he was just instructed to bark at people, but didn't like when he was… 26 21331 |
