Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Jun 15, 2020 10:53 pm We built a retaining wall and hired a licensed plumber to install the agi pipes. We’ve recently discovered that he did a poor job and that the agi pipes slope in the wrong direction causing water to flow away from the outlet. It’s an L shaped retaining wall 19m x 19m. He has only provided one outlet per wall, so each 19m wall is serviced by only one outlet. He did provide some inspection points - but only one drainage point. I believe by law there was supposed to be more draining points? So really the agi pipe is useless as water flows in the wrong direction. I’ve had a falling out with the plumber over his attitude over other work, so I know he won’t be willing to correct this mistakes especially since the walls 1.4m high and back filled with scoria. What course of action can I take against him to have this fixed? I’ve called the VBA but because of COVID19 their offices are closed and correspondence is only via email and they don’t reply. I need to get this fixed. I’m wondering if we could dig under the retaining wall from the front and connect additional outlets. Thanks. Retaining wall agi slopes wrong way 4Jul 10, 2020 10:50 pm Hey mate Try VBA plumbing again PlumbingTechnicalAdvice@vba.vic.gov.au They were great when I called them in June. They left me 1-2 messages and the plumber called me again after hours a few days later as realised I must be working and had not been able to return call to him. When I had asked about agi pipe slope towards silt pit at end of my build I can’t recall if it was my consultant or VBA plumbing that said that agi slope is not listed in Australian standards. Others will know if this is correct. It is just pride in work, care and common sense... when reading this forum seems it’s luck if your new build plumber uses it. Thank you again Simeon.. I will call my certifier for that. Have a good day 4 5179 Thanks for the insights, that makes perfect sense, and yeah, I will be leaning on the experience of the excavator operator entirely. 6 16140 Hi All, I engaged a tradie to install concrete retaining wall 600-800mm high over 32 meters in Victoria.
