Noticed today after seeing a bucket load of ants coming through the window that there is quite a sizeable gap between one of my windows and the cladding. The gap is all around, but much worse on the top left corner, where you can see in the pic that it has pulled out the sealant that was originally used suggesting at some point that gap was much smaller.
It was not like this when the house was built 4 years ago, so I am after some thoughts on what might be causing it as I cannot think of any good reason. The inside is as good as the day it was built which is even stranger. Though worth noting about 12 months ago the fixed window pane which is toughened glass spontaneously shattered.
I would have expected the window to be fixed to the frame and the cladding also fixed to the frame so would think everything should move together not move apart like this.
Next question how to fix it? Should I call the builder (whom I have had lots of issues with in the past) as I would suspect this could be or could lead to a structural issue so still within structural warranty period.Or some other way? Last thing I want to see is the gap stuffed with sealant.
