Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Jan 17, 2020 10:12 am Hi all, We have started a new build. The slab has been laid and I noticed the riser for the storm water is running down the right hand side of the block. Our block runs between two streets. We are planning to subdivide and build on the back at a later stage. With this in mind, I asked for sewage and storm water to be run down one side of the block. I've asked the builder/plumber why the storm water was run down the right hand side of the block and not the left. He has come back to me and said because the tie is on the right hand side and they would have to run storm water across the front of the block Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Is having the stormwater running down the right hand side going to cause issues with future development? It is most likely the side that would have a garage on it. Is running storm water across the front of the block more of an issue? Should I be insisting that it gets moved as per plans? Can they make a new tie so they don't need to run across the front of the block. Thanks Nigel Re: Storm water path affecting future developement 2Jan 17, 2020 10:51 am pencilhead Hi all, We have started a new build. The short answer is no it won't stop you from developing in the future, but the vacant lot may have to register an easement in your favour or you may need to realign the stormwater pipe in the future as part of the development (depending which local government you are in). You can you email me the plan if you want and I can review. rhett.b@dtsqld.com.au I am a town planner. I've asked for builder to relocate stormwater path as per agreed drawings. It will save any hassles later I think. Will see what he comes back with.
