Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Oct 26, 2019 7:48 pm Hi I live in Avoca beach on 1000sqm on a sloping block, the usable space available is probably around 15 to 20%, therefore I’d like to extend the existing deck on the top floor and a new deck on the bottom floor. The deck on the second floor will be around 60 sqm as well as the deck down stairs. I’ve been reading about Floor ratio space and wondering if this applies to decks. I’ve also read that the max area a deck can be is 30 sqm. If I submitted at DA with the deck size no more than30 sqm would I then be submitted a complying development. Therefore if I wanted to submit a design over 30 sqm it would be a standard DA? Re: DA process for a deck 2Oct 27, 2019 9:08 am Hi Dunstar Welcome to the forum Here in WA Floor ratios exclude, Decks, Balconies, basements, lifts, Roof top terraces, etc, Though overlooking and height restrictions maybe an issue, please check with your Council Here's the process for a roof top conversion to terrace. the upper floor Suspended 3c slab was in place already and extends the full area 1.
