Hello everyone,
I am first time building in Canberra, ACT. I am looking for advise on the wall sarking. Is it a basic building Standard or an extra inclusion?. As our build asking to pay separately for sarking.
Please help
Thanks in advance.

Thx Re: Insulation in new house 4Sep 04, 2018 11:29 pm Reflective insulation is highly important for lightweight construction. It not only provides a (minor though) thermal break for your studs but also creates a vapour permeable moisture barrier as your stud insulation should never be wet. The ideal construction from inside to outside: 1) battened cladding or brick veneer on ties; 2) air space (at least 25 mm but better 50 mm); 3) reflective insulation/moisture barrier; 4) OSB board; 5) studs filled with insulation batts; 6) plasterboard/gyprock; Good example here: https://www.kingspan.com/au/en-au/produ ... rmicav-xv# For Canberra it is certainly a must-to-have option. In addition, passive solar orientation (with good shading for summer) as well as additional thermal mass will be a significant plus as lightweight construction is not perfectly suitable for your climate zone no matter how insulated your house is. Thx for your help. Hey guys building a new place through a volume builder and just wondering if i should complain to the site supervisor as we just had plasterboard installed. Looks like… 0 11277 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it 2 6207 |
